Orient Celebrates 75th Anniversary with Three Limited-Edition Orient Mako

November 3, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

Celebrating 75 years of precision, craftsmanship, and enduring design, Orient has unveiled three limited-edition models from its flagship Orient Mako series, alongside three new additions to the ever-popular Orient Mako 40 collection. These new timepieces commemorate the brand’s remarkable legacy while capturing the adventurous spirit that defines Orient’s design philosophy.

Since their introduction in the 1960s, Orient’s diver-style models have represented the essence of the brand—reliable, stylish, and built for everyday exploration. The Orient Mako, which first debuted in 2004, has since earned international acclaim among watch collectors for its versatile appeal, intricate detailing, and accessible mechanical performance.

To mark this milestone, Orient is releasing limited runs of 6,000 pieces each for the Orient Mako and Orient Mako 40, and 1,000 pieces for the Orient Mako Chronograph—making them highly collectible for enthusiasts around the world.

A Tribute to Sun, Sea, and Heritage

The new limited-edition models evoke the feeling of endless summer days—bright blue skies, sea breeze, and golden sunlight. Each piece features a stunning sky-blue dial with a sunburst-stamped pattern, complemented by a sunlight-inspired second hand (or chronograph second hand for chronograph models). Adding a nostalgic touch, the dials bear the vintage Orient cursive logo from the 1950s—a subtle homage to the brand’s early years.

The case backs of each model feature a special engraving that reads “Orient Since 1950 – 75th Anniversary” along with an individual serial number, signifying authenticity and exclusivity. The timepieces are further equipped with screw case-backs and screw-down crowns, ensuring 20-bar water resistance, ideal for both land and sea adventures.

Precision Meets Practicality

The Orient Mako (41.8 mm) and Orient Mako 40 (39.9 mm) are powered by Orient’s in-house automatic calibres with hand-winding capabilities, offering over 40 hours of power reserve and stable accuracy. Designed for both outdoor activity and city wear, these models deliver everyday reliability with refined aesthetics.

The Mako Chronograph variant features a solar-powered movement that converts light into energy—an eco-conscious and functional choice for those who frequently use timing features in active settings.

In addition to their stylish diver design, the Orient Mako 40 models come fitted with sapphire crystal glass, SUS316L stainless steel bracelets, and the automatic calibre F6722, ensuring high durability and precision. Together, these features embody Orient’s dedication to combining timeless form with modern functionality.

A Legacy of Watchmaking Excellence

Founded in 1950, Orient has remained one of Japan’s most respected mechanical watchmakers, crafting in-house movements that blend innovation, reliability, and aesthetic balance. Today, Orient watches are sold in over 70 countries, earning a global following among collectors and connoisseurs alike for their value and design integrity.

The Orient Mako 75th Anniversary Collection is available at Solar Time retail stores, www.solartime.com

, and select fine watch retailers nationwide. Prices range between RM1,900 and RM2,300, depending on model specifications.

With this commemorative release, Orient continues to uphold its legacy — creating timepieces that are not just instruments of precision, but enduring symbols of craftsmanship and style.
