Toshiba Spotlights the Realities of Breastfeeding, Empowering Mothers on Their Journey

August 25, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

In conjunction with World Breastfeeding Month 2026, Toshiba Lifestyle Malaysia is launching “Empowering Every Mother’s Journey”, an initiative designed to inspire and empower mothers through meaningful conversations, expert insights and practical support. Malaysia has made encouraging progress in promoting exclusive breastfeeding in recent years. Through this forum, Toshiba hopes to further reinforce awareness, encourage mothers in their breastfeeding journeys and highlight the importance of a supportive environment for mothers and newborns.

“At Toshiba, we believe innovation should serve a greater purpose by enhancing the quality of everyday life – supporting  families and mothers with insights and home solutions mothers goes beyond – so that they can navigate important moments with greater confidence. By integrating technology, education and community care, we aim to support mothers throughout their breastfeeding journey and contribute towards healthier beginnings for newborns,” said Vanice Foo, Head of Brand Management, Toshiba Lifestyle Malaysia.

The event was officiated by YB Yeo Bee Yin, Chairperson of the Parliament Select Committee (PSC) for Women, Children and Community Development.  “Breastfeeding is not only a mother’s personal journey but involves families, communities and healthcare professionals. Mothers may face many challenges as they navigate their motherhood journey. Today’s initiative demonstrates the importance of collaborations between the public and private sectors to educate and build a more supportive environment for mothers and babies,” said YB Yeo Bee Yin.

The workshop also featured a panel discussion bringing together YB Yeo Bee Yin, Elizabeth Richard, Certified Lactation Consultant & Infant Care Expert and Natasha Hudson, model, ceramist and wellness advocate. The panellists shared diverse perspectives on the realities of breastfeeding, highlighting the importance of education, support systems and informed choices in empowering mothers throughout their breastfeeding journeys.

“Breast milk provides important nutritional and protective benefits that support a baby’s growth, development and overall well-being. However, breastfeeding can come with physical, emotional and practical challenges, and without the right information and support, mothers may find it difficult to continue. Consistent education, professional guidance and a supportive environment are therefore essential in helping mothers feel more confident throughout their breastfeeding journey,” said  Elizabeth Richard, Certified Lactation Consultant & Infant Care Expert.

Teresa Chin, Founder of Parenthood – facilitator of the forum, said, “We are proud to bring together experts, mothers and industry partners to address a topic of national interest in supporting maternal and newborn well-being.” Renowned actress, model, ceramist and wellness advocate Natasha Hudson also shared that every mother’s journey is unique, shaped by its own challenges and beautiful moments. “Having the right support can make a meaningful difference. Conversations like these are important reminders that a mother’s well-being matters too.”

In conjunction with the breastfeeding awareness event, Toshiba Lifestyle Malaysia is also initiating a donation drive to support The Nesting Place Confinement Centre, Kimporo Postnatal Rejuvenation Centre and LYC Mother & Child Centre. As part of the initiative, Toshiba will be donating refrigerators, washing machines, dryers and dishwashers, with a total contribution value of approximately RM60,000. The refrigerators will support the safe and hygienic storage of expressed breast milk, while the other home appliances will help enhance the care environment and provide greater comfort and convenience for mothers and newborns during the important postpartum recovery period.

In recognition of this meaningful contribution, Toshiba Lifestyle Malaysia has also been awarded the Parenthood Records title for the Most Home Appliances Donated to Confinement Centres, recognising the brand’s commitment to supporting mothers and babies through initiatives that promote safer, healthier and more nurturing postpartum environments.

Beyond supporting breast milk storage needs, Toshiba’s wider ecosystem of home solutions is brought to life through the 5-Senses Toshiba Lifestyle Experience Zone, an immersive experience inspired by motherhood, breastfeeding and the comforts of a nurturing home. Guests experienced how Toshiba’s home solutions could support different aspects of family life, creating a more comfortable, hygienic and calming environment for mothers, babies and families.
