Desaru Coast and Batam Fast Commence Ferry Services Connecting Singapore’s Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal with Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal

July 8, 2022 by StrawberrY Gal

Desaru Coast Destination Resort (“Desaru Coast”), Malaysia’s largest integrated destination, together with its appointed ferry service operator, Desaru Link Ferry Services Pte. Ltd., a subsidiary of Batam Fast Ferry Pte. Ltd. (Batam Fast), today commenced passenger ferry services connecting Singapore’s Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal with Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal.

The highly anticipated ferry service successfully set sail from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal at 8.30 am and was warmly welcomed by the team from Desaru Coast and Batam Fast at Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal. The journey time was approximately 90 minutes.

“The launch of the ferry service is an exciting and pivotal moment for Desaru Coast,” said Roslina Arbak, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Desaru Development Holdings One Sdn. Bhd. “Through this scheduled, fast and convenient cross-border connectivity between Singapore and Johor, we look forward to welcoming more international travellers to Johor and driving tourism for the state.”

For the initial months, Batam Fast will operate one round trip service from Thursday to Sunday. Since the sale of tickets began on 30 June 2022, Batam Fast has seen a healthy take-up for the new service. To meet the demand of the Hari Raya Haji long weekend for both Singapore and Malaysia, service operations have been extended to Monday, 11 July 2022. Batam Fast will continue to scale ferry services as demand increases.

Paul R. Gannaway, CEO of Batam Fast said, “Starting off this new service as part of our service expansion plan, we are encouraged with the interest level and promising take up on our first weekend of service. We hope to see the momentum develop in the months to come.”

In conjunction with the commencement of service, Batam Fast has been running a special promotion for the first three months. With the promo code available on its website – batamfast.com, customers can purchase discounted tickets at SGD98 during this period. At the same time, to celebrate the new service, Desaru Coast has introduced special packages for its hotel stays and golf play & stay as well as a new category of packages – its Day packages, all of which include return ferry tickets when guests purchase directly from desarucoast.com.

Ferry tickets and services schedules are available online at desarucoast.com and batamfast.com.
