The Chow Kit Kitchen & Bar @ The Ormond Chow Kit

October 26, 2021 by StrawberrY Gal

The Chow Kit Kitchen & Bar is the warm heart of our hotel – an open space designed to celebrate the spirit of open houses – where strangers become friends and friends become family over a shared meal. Our dishes, crafted from spoken recipes passed down from generations, celebrate the multiculturalism of Malay cuisine, drawing from the north and south of Malaysia. Our food is simple and delicious, celebrating the honest flavours of locally sourced produce, from local artisanal vendors and the nearby Chow Kit market.

And this time, we visited the restaurant and we completely fall in love with it. The restaurant comes with the cosy ambience and service and SOP is perfectly well done which I feel I am safe to dine in here.  We are held to our seats and handed the menu.

Satay (RM 25)

One can enjoy the delicious prepared chicken satay, beef satay or tofu satay which is beautifully grilled till perfection on the charcoal fire. They are served with the sweet peanut sauce. And for this time, we opt for chicken satay that comes with the tender juicy meat. Each mouthful comes simply delicious and they are perfectly marinated. Love every bite of it.

Nyonya Kari Kapitan (RM 45)

One of the signatures here, the Nyonya Kari Kapitan comes simply impressive where the Nyonya -style chicken are well infused with the combination of both Malay & Chinese Herbs & spices in a rich mild curry thickened with coconut milk, candlenuts and kaffir lime leaf.

Squid Sambal Petai (RM 65)

A MUST to have here is the Squid Sambal Petai. They are indeed impressive and l am loving it so much.  They are beautifully stir-fried in aromatic shrimp paste, lime, chili and tamarind juice.

And one must enjoy their 2 signature desserts after the wholesome meals.

Musang King Custard (RM 28)

One of the musts to try here is the Musang King Custard (RM 28). The Musang King custard is sinfully addictive and delicious where one can enjoy the baked cream custard completes with the fresh musang king and the caramlised brown sugar at the top. They are so good and you can taste the flash of the musang king in it which make it superbly good.

 Sago Gula Melaka

As for the Sago Gula Melaka, one will definitely love their sago pudding which si served together with their water chestnut rubies, gula melaka syrup and topped with the delicious and soothing coconut ice cream.

Drinks : Sun Kissed Cooler (RM 15) & Jambu Plum Pie (RM 15)

Sun Kissed Cooler (RM 15)

As for the drinks; we had the Sun Kissed Cooler which is the combination of the cranberry, raspberry, lemongrass, lime and sun-dried orange.

Jambu Plum Pie (RM 15)

Another must try here and they are simply refreshing. They completes with the combination of green apple, guava, asamboi, cinnamon and lime.

Overall, the service and the food comes superbly delicious. If you are looking for some delicious Malaysian delights with the instap-feel, this is definitely the place
