Another memorable Raya joyous celebration as Sungei Wang celebrates the Holy Ramadhan month this year with the theme “Jom Raya Bersama Miao & WafuPafu. The Raya celebrations in the mall commenced from 27 May and will run through to 9 July 2017.
Located in the heart of Golden Triangle, Sungei Wang journeys back to the traditional kampung ambience, and celebrate the festive together with the Miao & WafuPafu. The special Raya Edition of Miao & WafuPafu characters are specially created by the author to ignite the festive mood and bring life to the festival. Miao & WafuPafu is a comic blog chronicling the author, Miao going about his daily life with his friends, and Miao is often accompanied by his pet hamsters incarnated as an angel and a devil. From a simple comic blog, Miao & WafuPafu is transforming itself into a local brand that will offer various merchandise with distinctly Malaysian designs.
“Hari Raya Aldilfitri is one of the most important celebrations in Malaysia and we look forward to create fun and warm shopping experience for shoppers with the variety of exciting activities, workshops and bargain throughout the month long celebrations. This year, the theme for our Raya celebration is “Jom Raya Bersama Miao & WafuPafu”. The entire mall is settled up with various photo opportunities areas for shoppers to take photo with these cute characters. We wanted to spread the joy and fun by featuring Miao & WafuPafu in the Raya decoration”, says Yuen May Chee, Complex Manager of Sungei Wang.
Grand Launch of Jom Raya Bersama Miao & WafuPafu
To kick start the campaign, a media launch of Jom Raya Bersama Miao & WafuPafu was held on 31 May 2017, with the special appearance of Malaysian singer and idol, Najwa Latif. Popular with her first official single “Cinta Muka Buku”, Najwa Latif captivated the audiences with two songs during the launch. The author of Miao & WafuPafu, Mr Jian Goh was there to officiate and witness the Grand Launch.
Not forgetting the less fortunate, the Grand Launch was attended by the adorable kids from Rumah Kebajikan Baitul Hidayah where the kids enjoyed the Raya art and craft workshop before the launch. The kids were also delightfully surprised to receive the goodie bags from Sungei Wang sponsored by Giant Supermarket and thereafter to a Buka Puasa dinner at The Chicken Rice Shop with management staffs and guests.
Jom Raya Bersama Miao & WafuPafu Raya Activities
Catch the exciting live dance performances – Ewa Ewa Hari Raya Dance taking place during the weekends at Sungei Wang. This special dance showcase will definitely brighten up your Raya shopping mood.
