Philips Lighting showcases Connected Systems at ARCHIDEX taking light beyond illumination

July 25, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

Philips Lighting (Euronext Amsterdam ticker: LIGHT), a global leader in lighting, today introduced its Luminous systems to the South East Asian market at ARCHIDEX 16,  South East Asia’s annual industry trade event for the architecture, interior design and building fraternity.  The Philips Lighting exhibition booth is located in Hall 6, Booth 6A055, at the exhibition that runs from 20th to 23rd July at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

“Philips Lighting continually strives to be at the forefront of the industry, developing meaningful innovations because we understand how lighting affects people” said Alok Ghose, Managing Director for Lighting, Philips Malaysia.  “Beyond the purpose of illumination, we are focused on developing products and systems that provide end users and consumers new lighting experiences and dynamic ambience” he explained.

Ghose explained that Philips Lighting participation at ARCHIDEX 16 is to give end-users, designers, architects and engineers more ideas and insights into the possibilities of digital lighting.  Understanding the psychological impact of lighting has allowed Philips Lighting to innovate products and solutions that provide creativity, enhanced utilities and efficiencies for various commercial and residential applications.

Announcing its latest embedded solutions at the exhibition, Philips Lighting demonstrated the variety and versatility of connected Philips Lighting systems in everyday settings.  The displays highlighted the opportunity for seamless integration and creativity, with the use of programmable LED lighting fused with different building materials and surfaces. The integrated systems can invoke deeper emotions through its flexible and customizable configurations, resulting in strong lasting impressions and an unparalleled design freedom.

Introducing the luminous series from Philips Lighting

Luminous textiles  integrates multi-coloured LEDs seamlessly within beautiful fabric panels, allowing designers and consumers the opportunity to play with colour, movement, texture and light.  Equipped with a software application, users can set up various luminous textile panel configurations. They can also use it to create, edit and upload videography content to the luminous textile panels and enable memorable experiences.

Luminous carpets which combine luxurious carpets with cutting-edge LEDs.  The carpet connects easily with an electrical and IT system.  With a simple setup, it can display personal messages or subtle signage, interacting with guests, creating a lively impression on everyone who enters the room, office lobby, or building.  Because of its uniqueness, it is attention-grabbing and can be used not only as a navigation tool, but also to provide dynamic information, such as live data feeds and useful animations.

Luminous Patterns provide designers and consumers the freedom to enrich interiors by integrating light, colour, texture, patterns and movements.  Housing programmable LEDs in beautiful bespoke panels, it creates a signature ambience, particularly for hospitality environments and retail spaces.  This system allows for the creation of moods and striking accents that truly bring spaces to life in a sophisticated manner.

Various other connected applications and scenarios were seamlessly combined to provide visitors unique insights into the enriched aesthetics, value and experience that can be gained through the application of the one-of-its kind Philips Lighting systems.

Bringing it all together – Systems & Services

Ghose emphasized that a key feature to all the connected products and solutions exhibited was the role that the Philips Lighting’s System and Services team played.  These systems are part of Philips Lighting’s connected lighting portfolio, and are configured and commissioned at site since as they require software installation and programming.  As part of the offer, our System and Services team oversees the complete installation set-up, to ensure complete client satisfaction and delight with the world’s best lighting systems.

“As a leader in connected lighting, ourhuman-centric innovations have allowed us to take light beyond illumination and facilitate the Internet Of Things.  Lighting impacts our mood, it affects productivity, it promotes safety, and through ingenious design, can be an aesthetic enhancer.  LED technology has brought about much energy and cost savings, thereby allowing us to have greener lifestyles.  Further, with the amalgamation of cutting edge digital technologies into our LED solutions, like the smart Power over Ethernet (PoE) connected office lighting systems allows  integration of lighting with other systems in a building or city spaces, and intuitive control algorithms.  This, as a result, creates new synergies and building management efficiencies, making light an integral part of the new digital ecology and workspace wellbeing” Ghose explained.
