MOONCAKES WITH A CAUSE : NKF launches low-sugar mooncakes for Mid-Autumn Festival

July 22, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

Make this Mid-Autumn Festival that much sweeter by indulging in National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF)’s low-sugar mooncakes while contributing to charity!

Mid-Autumn Festival falls on 15 September in 2016, or the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. Every year, NKF celebrates this special gathering of family and loved ones with the launch of a range of mooncakes to raise funds for underprivileged kidney patients.

Partnering with Kam Lun Tai, the mooncakes come in three different designs with packaging that draws inspiration from the origins of the Mid-Autumn Festival. From blooming Autumn flowers to prancing Jade Rabbits, the mooncakes are packed in exquisite boxes and come in three available sizes:

• The essential Type A box includes four 180g pieces of Lotus Paste, Lotus 1 Yolk, Golden Jade 1 Yolk and Red Bean at a donation of RM 68 per box.

• The mid-range Type B box includes a 1 kg set of Lotus Emperor 4 Yolks or Golden Jade King 4 Yolks at donation of RM 88 per box.

• The deluxe Type C Premium Rabbit Set includes Lotus Paste 2 Yolks, Black Sesame Lotus 1 Yolk and Green Scenery and Assorted Fruits & Nuts at a donation of RM 98 per box.

Proceeds from the mooncake sales will be funneled towards the treatment and support of underprivileged dialysis patients, as well as towards funding NKF’s continuous efforts to educate the public on the importance of kidney care.

Members of the public can also sponsor mooncakes for NKF and their families to extend their celebrations to those in need.

Mr. Chua Hong Wee, Chief Executive Officer of NKF, said, “Year after year, we are surprised by and grateful for the generosity of the public in participating in this charitable cause. The funds go a long way in enabling us to continue providing treatment for the 1,500 dialysis patients under our care.”

He added, “Our mooncakes are certified halal and would make a great gift for all Malaysians who wish to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival together in peace. What more, the mooncakes have a low sugar content and are suitable for those who are health conscious or watching their diet.”

Those wishing to do their part for charity and purchase NKF mooncakes can either access the booking form from the NKF website at http://www.nkf.org.my. Payment can be made via credit card, cheque or postal order, as well as cash via deposit or online-banking transfer. Proof of payment is to be attached to completed order forms and returned via fax or email. For more information or any queries, please contact NKF by emailing [email protected] or calling 03-7954 9048 ext. 208/218/217.

Donors will be informed when the mooncakes are available for collection at the NKF Secretariat office in Section 14, Petaling Jaya. Deliveries to homes or to offices can also be requested with applicable charges.
