CELEBRATE LE FRENCH GOURMAY AT RENAISSANCE HARBOUR VIEW HOTEL HONG KONG

April 22, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

As the official hotel of Le French May, Renaissance Harbour View Hotel Hong Kong is proud to present a gastronomic journey to France by featuring an Alsatian dinner buffet at Café Renaissance and specially selected wines from Alsace at Dynasty.

Alsatian Dinner Buffet at Café Renaissance
Apart from international delicacies with succulent seasonal oysters and steamed live lobster, Café Renaissance brings you an intriguing gastronomic journey to France with a range of handcrafted Alsatian appetizers, hot delicacies and desserts. Sausages are one of the most popular foods in Strasbourg, the capital of Alsace. We will surely whet your appetite with Strasbourg Sausage Salad that fuses cervelas sausage and emmenthal cheese from Alsace. Asparagus with Dried Ham is an indigenous Alsatian cold dish with savoury ham wrapped over poached asparagus, giving you a crisp and refreshing taste. Last but not least, cold cuts are classic yet never-to-be-missed French delights.

Within proximity to Germany, Alsatian cuisine is influenced by German fare, with stewing and generous use of sausages, pork and cabbage in various forms with a French twist. Lamb Stew Cooked in Pinot Noir delivers a rich lamb flavour with the Pinot Noir wine elevating the overall fragrance. Choucroute is a typical specialty of the Alsace region, which is a platter of sauerkraut, hearty sausages, pork belly, pork hock and potatoes that are piled together for your selection.

Flammekueche, originates from Germany, but it hasnbecome popular in the north-eastern region of France, which is a thin crust Alsatian pizzan with crème fraîche, bacon, pork belly and onion.

Most Alsatian homes have their own homemade fruit tart recipes. Tarte aux Fruit comes in  various flavours including apple, plum, berry and mixed fruits. Our pastry chef selects only the freshest seasonal fruits to create the best flavours. Kougelhopf is a famous all occasion Alsace dessert. Being ring shaped with a bread-like texture, this dessert hints flavours of  nutty almonds. Intriguingly infused with aniseed, clove, nutmeg and cinnamon, Pain d’epice is a sweet and moist cake with a hint of spice.

Add a glass of wine to complete your meal. Three Alsatian white wines are available for your selection, Gewurztraminer, Hugel et Fils will fill your mouth with floral, spicy notes. Pinot Gris, Tradition Hugel et Fils is rich, rounded and dry whereas Fleur de Lotus Josmeyer has a beautiful balance of refreshness, spicy notes and floral aromas.

The Alsatian Dinner Buffet will be available from 1 – 31 May 2016, from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., priced at HK$ 568 per adult and HK$ 368 per child on Monday – Thursday; HK$ 588 per adult and HK$ 388 per child on Friday – Sunday and public holidays (except Mother’s Day) with a free flow of chilled juices and soft drinks. Alsatian wines are priced at HK$ 160 for a tasting trio and HK$ 520 for unlimited flow.

A Sip of Alsace at Dynasty Restaurant
Grab a glass of your favorite wine from Alsace to create your own pairing notes with gourmet Cantonese delicacies at Dynasty restaurant. Gewurztraminer, Hugel et Fils is an intensely aromatic wine filled with floral aromas of rose, jasmine, lily, freesia and primrose with fruity notes from mango and pear, which is a good matching to pair with our signature Barbecued Pork. The wine enhances the flavour of the pork and balances out the oiliness with its acidity. Pinot Gris, Tradition Hugel et Fils is a well-balanced wine with fruity flavours and a touch of pistachio and fresh hazelnut, which perfectly complements white meat and fish, like Garoupa Fillet Sautéed with Fresh Lily Bulbs and Young Kale. Fleur de Lotus Josmeyer is a blend of Auzerrois, Gewurztraminer and Riesling which offers a vibrant floral scent with coriander and white pepper notes. This fruity, floral yet spicy wine matches well with rich and spicy dishes like our intriguing Fresh Mud Crab Claw Deep-fried
with Five Spices and Chili. The Alsatian wines are priced from HK$ 100 up per glass.
