IKEA CHERAS NOW READY FOR MORE MALAYSIANS

November 27, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

IKEA Malaysia today unveiled its second store located at Jalan Cochrane, Cheras. Spanning across 42,000 square-metres of shopping space, this opening themed as ‘Malaysia’s Biggest Housewarming Party’ was officiated by His Excellency Mr. Bengt G Carlsson, Ambassador of Sweden to Malaysia.

Twenty percent bigger than IKEA Damansara, the new store is a 5-minute drive from the city centre, accessible from major highways and connects to the Cochrane MRT station, set to be completed in 2017. Reigning as the biggest store in Malaysia, IKEA Cheras features 56 showrooms and offers over 8,500 products that fit well into Malaysian homes. The store is also complemented with 780 seats at its restaurant and over 1,700 parking bays for greater convenience.

“IKEA Cheras is a dream come true for many more Malaysians. Now even closer to more customers, it will provide easier access to a wide range of well-designed, functional and quality Swedish home furnishing solutions at incredibly low prices. More Malaysians will have the opportunity to enjoy the unique and consistent IKEA store experience many have come to know and love,” said Mike King, Retail Director, IKEA Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

IKEA Cheras is one of the first few retail developments to be ready in the booming township. The new iconic landmark spots the potential in transforming Cheras into a vibrant retail destination, drawing upon the liveliness that IKEA has been bringing to Mutiara Damansara.

“Staying true to our vision of creating a better everyday life for the many people, it is important that we create a positive impact in the communities where we operate in. Together with the surrounding developments, we believe the new IKEA store has the potential to transform Cheras as a lively shopping destination whilst turning it into Kuala Lumpur’s newest retail landmark,” added Mike.
Throughout the opening weekend, IKEA Cheras has lined-up various exciting store activities for the entire family including special appearance by the dancing Panda, face painting, clown performance, balloon giveaways and many more. The store will be open from 9.30am – 10.00pm (Monday to Thursday) and 9.30pm – 11.00pm (Friday – Sunday, eve and on public holidays).
