Started with the Steamed Golden Sweet Corn Bun(满地金钱宝粟米); the bun comes fluffy and moist. In it, the creamy ooziness of the corn custard is just indulging with the complete light sweetness in it.

The Steamed Chicken and Prawn Dumpling “Siew Mai” topped with Abalone (袋袋有余鲍鱼烧) is good too. The luxury dim sum is sinfully good with the bouncy and plupy abalone on top. The chicken and prawn dumpling leaves us with a flavorful sensation which is indeed a double thumb up.

As for the Baked Crispy Sweet Potato Puff(金树报平安金薯酥); it is indeed well made and wrapped in sweet balls. Once bite, you can taste the crispy of the puff and the inside is the sticky sweet potato which is not sweet.

Also available this Chinese New Year are unique à la carte dishes, which are perfect complements to the dim sum offers. The menu includes Deep Fried Cod Fish with Special Sauce年年有馀 (金辉鳕鱼), Braised Whole Abalone with Porcini Mushroom包您发财 (牛肝菌扒鲍鱼), Braised Lamb Shank with Sweet Mui Choy喜气洋洋 (甜味菜扒羊小腿), Traditional Braised Chicken Leg with Red Rice Sauce金鸡报喜 (古法酱烤鸡腿), Wok Fried Seafood with Spicy Sauce served in Coconut花开富贵 (海鲜椰子盅) and Stir Fried Glutinous Rice Cakes with Shrimp and Crab Roe满载而归 (虾仁蚧皇炒水晶年糕).

The Braised Lamb Shank with Sweet Mui Choy is indeed a good one which is being served. The Lamb Shank remains moist, and tender meat with the blend of the sweet mui choy sauce which is well infused into the meat. It is something special to try off for this Chinese New Year with the unique taste. What’s more is the chef is indeed an expert in preparing the dish which the lamb does not have any gammy taste in it.

Not to be missed includes the Traditional Braised Chicken Leg with Red Rice Sauce金鸡报喜 (古法酱烤鸡腿). The chicken leg is well braised for hours where the chicken meat is moist, and fell of the bone meat. Absorbing all the flavours of the Red Rice Sauce, the chicken leg is simply awesome and nice.

Another unique item to try off includes the Stir Fried Glutinous Rice Cakes with Shrimp and Crab Roe满载而归 (虾仁蚧皇炒水晶年糕). The dish is simply lovely and unique as the glutinous rice cakes is well done till perfection with the fragrant shrimp and crab roe taste in it.

Aside from the ala-carte and dim sum for this coming Chinese New Year, Luk Yu Tea House also served set dining. There are two options of set menus for diners who are looking to reunite with friends and family. Guests may opt for the RM488 menu for six pax, or the RM688 menu for ten pax. Both 9-course menus start with the salmon yee sang, where diners get to toss to an upcoming year of abundance, prosperity and vigour.
