MY ELEPHANT @ AMPANG

My Elephant Restaurant is nothing new to PJ folks as the restaurant is simply famous for its Thai Cuisine.

The restaurant which had been opened kinda long in PJ had spreds its wings to other places in Klang Valley where they have one outle in Aman Suria and now the recent one is in the Korea Village at Ampang. Being a neighbourhood restaurant, rest assured that they are quality and yet affordable food to go for. We are lucky to get a chance to sample their petite size of signatures and new menu.

We started with the platter of Pla Sam Rod (RM 58.00/kg) where the siakap is being deep fried till crispiness in the outside and the inside comes flaky and moist. The sweet and spicy flavours of the fish can be tasted with the amazing flaours. The right blend of taste with the fragrant lemongrass hint can be tasted in the meal itself. Topped on top is the shredded carrot and long slices of mango with it. I am just falling in love with it.

Gaeng Keow Wan Pu Nim Tod Grab (RM 32.00 for 2 pcs of softshell crab) is where the softshell crab is being deep fried till crispiness and it is then being topped with the mixed of green and red curry on op. The curry comes out with the simply awesome flavours and every mouthful is wonderfully done. The blend of fragrance as well with the combination of the aromatic curry blend comes so superlicious where I wish the curry comes more in the platter and have a bowl of hearty warm rice to be accompanied with it.

Being in a Thai Restaurant, a must have is of course the tom yum soup. In My Elephant, we are served with a super spicy tomyom- Tom Som Sao Wa Rod. With a kick of spiciness in it, My Elephant had their made the soup simply special where the soup is prepared with the vast raw ingridients which includes the basic tomyam ingrdients as well as basil leaves and lemon grass. But what surprise us is they had added with the fresh passion fruit in their soup which creates a different flavours where the souriness with the light combination of sweetness is there. Topped with it is the fresh ingridients which includes mussels, abalone mushroom , prawms and squids.

Tom Kha Rice which is another new item from My Elephant where the rice comes with the combination of the glutinous rice is well cooked with santan for hours and the process is pretty harda as they need to have a dedicated staff to stir on the rice while preparing the rice else the base would be burn. The Tom Kha rice comes pretty unique with theblend of creaminess in it.

if you are looking for a kick of spiciness and yet appetizing, try the Yum Som Orr (RM 28) which indeed goes well with the generous portion of pomelo in it it. The zesty temotation from the imported Thai Pomelo had made the dish super liciious with the sweet blend with the pulpy pomelos in it.

Panang Gai Yang (RM 18.00) is well done with the moist texture of the chicken meat. The Panang Gai Yang comes awesomely good where I love the tender juicy texture of the chicken meat which is filled with the juiciness and fragrance of herbs in it. What makes it better is the chicken meat is simply moist.

They also served with the fried tofu cubes, where it is being deep fried till crispiness and every mouthful is crispy at the munch and moist in the inside.

Our meal ended with My Elephant signature desserts which is the Khaw Neaw Mamuang (RM 8.50) where the desserts are being served with the combination of glutinous black and white rice and it is awesomely cooked with the toppeed of the creamy fresh coconut milk with it. Served together with theslices of sweet mango which made a nice match with the rice. It is indeed melting our hearts with the great sweet ending.

Neverless, being the winner of best Thai Restaurant in Time Out KL, My Elephant is indeed did not disappoint us with the food and also in the ambience. The restaurant left me with a good memory with lovely food.
