A Taste of Modern Spain: An Exquisite Evening at Las Meninas Bar de Tapas

September 17, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

Bringing the spirited flavours of Spain to the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Las Meninas Bar de Tapas at The Exchange TRX offers a contemporary take on Iberian dining, combining bold flavours, convivial sharing plates and a stylish setting.

Located at the mall’s vibrant Dining Terrace, the restaurant takes inspiration from Diego Velázquez’s celebrated masterpiece Las Meninas, translating the elegance and character of Spanish culture into a modern dining experience.

Starting Fresh with Guacamole

The evening began with Guacamole Fresco, a refreshing combination of creamy avocado, cilantro, lime and pico de gallo, served with house-made mixed chips.

Diners can opt for the Classic version (RM32) or try the more adventurous Smoked Duck & Mango variation (RM35), which adds a sweet and savoury dimension to the familiar favourite.

Tapas Made for Sharing

True to Spanish dining tradition, the tapas selection encourages guests to share, sample and linger over the table.

The Croquetas (RM30) delivered a satisfying contrast of textures, with a crisp golden exterior giving way to a creamy mushroom béchamel centre. A generous serving of black truffle mayonnaise added an earthy richness to every bite.

For something heartier, the Bistec de Carne (RM42) featured slow-cooked beef brisket steak, sliced and served with crispy potato chips. Tender and deeply flavoured, it was a comforting addition to the tapas spread.

Another highlight was the Pinchos de Pollo Picante (RM38). These grilled chicken skewers arrived sizzling, infused with spices, chilli and garlic for a smoky, gently spicy finish.

Arroz Negro Takes Centre Stage

The standout main course was undoubtedly the Arroz Negro (RM115 for two portions).

Prepared with authentic bomba rice and squid ink, this dramatic black paella was packed with tender squid and tiger prawns before being finished with a creamy dollop of aioli.

Rich, briny and deeply savoury, the dish delivered the kind of bold Mediterranean flavours that make Spanish rice dishes such satisfying centrepieces for a shared meal.

Raise a Glass to Spanish-Inspired Sips

No tapas evening feels quite complete without a refreshing drink in hand.

Las Meninas offers its Sangria de la Casa (RM42) in Red, White or Rosé, combining Spanish brandy, rum, wine and mixed fruits for an easy-drinking accompaniment to the meal.

Guests looking for something more playful can explore the La Vida Spritz, priced at RM58 per glass or RM150 for a trio.

The restaurant also livens up midweek evenings with its Wednesday Sangria Affair, featuring free-flow sangria for ladies from 7pm to 8pm, accompanied by live music.

A Dining Spot for Families, Too

Despite its sophisticated bar-and-tapas atmosphere, Las Meninas also welcomes families.

Through its Kids Eat Free initiative, children aged six and below can enjoy a complimentary meal with every adult main course ordered, making the restaurant an appealing choice for parents who want to enjoy a leisurely Spanish meal without leaving younger diners out of the experience.

A Contemporary Slice of Spain at TRX

From creamy croquetas and smoky chicken skewers to a striking squid ink paella, Las Meninas Bar de Tapas brings together the flavours, energy and sharing culture associated with Spanish dining.

With its contemporary setting, lively drinks programme and family-friendly touches, it makes an attractive destination for after-work gatherings, weekend dinners or an evening of tapas and sangria in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
