Ninja SLUSHi: 5 Reasons This Frozen Drink Maker Is a Seriously Cool Kitchen Upgrade

January 22, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

Forget the ice tray. Your next favourite frozen drink could start with a pour and the press of a button.

Some kitchen gadgets make dinner easier. Others make staying home a little more exciting. The Ninja SLUSHi Professional Frozen Drink Maker FS301 falls firmly into the second category, transforming suitable liquid drinks into frozen treats without adding ice or using a blender. Its RapidChill Technology freezes the liquid itself, while preset programmes and adjustable temperature controls help you achieve your preferred consistency.

But does it deserve a permanent place beside your coffee machine? Here are five reasons to put the Ninja SLUSHi on your kitchen-tech radar.

1. It Makes Slushies Without Adding Ice

The most interesting thing about the Ninja SLUSHi is what you do not need to put inside it.

Instead of crushing ice into your drink, its RapidChill system freezes the liquid evenly to create a slushy consistency. That means there is no added ice to dilute the ingredients—a particularly appealing detail when you want your coffee, juice or chocolate drink to retain its flavour.

Think of it as a different approach to frozen drinks, rather than another version of a blender. The appeal is not having to work out how much ice to add or whether you have enough frozen cubes ready.

The wow factor: The drink itself becomes the frozen treat.

2. Five Presets Take It Beyond the Ordinary Slushie

The name might suggest soft-drink slushies, but the machine’s capabilities go further.

There are five preset programmes: Slush, Frozen Cocktail, Frappé, Milkshake and Frozen Juice. These provide starting settings for different styles of frozen beverages, giving the appliance a broader role than making one type of icy drink.

And there is a distinctly Malaysian way to approach it. SharkNinja Malaysia publishes a teh tarik slushie recipe, using chilled teh tarik and condensed milk with the Frappé setting. Whipped cream is suggested as an optional finishing touch.

That is a more interesting proposition than simply recreating a convenience-store drink. Imagine planning a weekend drinks menu around a familiar flavour, then giving it a different texture.

The wow factor: Your favourite teh tarik could become the highlight of an at-home café afternoon.

3. You Can Adjust the Texture, Not Just the Flavour

A frozen drink should suit how you enjoy drinking it.

The Ninja SLUSHi includes temperature controls that let you make the result thicker or thinner than the preset setting. Rather than being locked into one consistency, you can adjust the drink towards a lighter sip or a thicker frozen treat.

There is a timing consideration, however. Ninja quotes 15–60 minutes, depending on the ingredients, volume and starting temperature. This is a prepare-ahead appliance, not an instant-drink dispenser.

For a planned movie night or an afternoon with friends, that is easy to factor into the preparation. For a drink you need immediately before leaving the house, it is a different story.

The wow factor: The controls let you personalise the texture—not simply select a flavour and accept whatever comes out.

4. It Brings a Frozen-Drink Station to Your Gathering

There is something undeniably fun about serving frozen drinks on tap at home.

The Malaysian model has a 2.5-litre vessel, but the important working figure is its 1.9-litre maximum liquid fill. Ninja advertises approximately seven servings, depending on the recipe and serving size.

It can also maintain frozen drinks for up to 12 hours while operating, although Ninja Malaysia specifically excludes dairy recipes from that claim. You can top up a batch, but the new liquid needs time to freeze again.

The attraction for hosting is straightforward: prepare a batch in advance and make the drinks station part of the occasion, rather than preparing every serving individually.

The wow factor: It turns serving drinks into part of the entertainment.

5. The Cleanup Features Make It Less Intimidating

A fun appliance loses some of its appeal when washing it feels like a second project.

The Ninja SLUSHi has a Rinse cycle that agitates water without cooling, helping remove remaining frozen drink before you take the machine apart. Removable components can then be washed by hand or in a dishwasher, following Ninja’s care instructions.

Importantly, rinsing does not replace a full clean. Ninja instructs users to disassemble and wash the parts after use; the motor base and cooling evaporator are not dishwasher-safe.

That distinction matters. This is a machine with helpful cleaning features, not one that completely cleans itself.

The wow factor: The design accounts for what happens after the last glass—not just the impressive first pour.

Before You Make Room on the Counter

The Ninja SLUSHi is a dedicated frozen-drink maker, not a blender. Do not add ice cubes, whole fruit or other hard ingredients expecting it to chop them. Sugar-free and very low-sugar drinks also require an appropriate recipe adjustment rather than a straight pour-and-freeze approach. Follow Ninja’s approved guidance for your ingredients.

It is worth measuring your space, too. The unit measures 16.5cm wide × 41.4cm deep × 43cm high and weighs 11kg—something to consider before assuming you will move it in and out of a cupboard regularly.

SharkNinja Malaysia lists the FS301 at RM1,499 with a two-year warranty

For someone who regularly enjoys frozen drinks or loves hosting, the appeal is easy to understand. For an occasional slushie craving, the price and counter space deserve more thought.
