Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur Raises RM30,000 for Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA)

November 19, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

The spirit of unity and compassion shone brightly as Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur successfully raised over RM30,000 in support of the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA) through its annual Pink October fundraising campaigns.

The heartfelt contribution was presented by General Manager Daniel Kaeflein to Madam Sumitra Selvaraj, Assistant General Manager of BCWA, during a cheque presentation and appreciation luncheon at the hotel. The occasion marked not only the success of the campaign but also the continuation of the hotel’s enduring commitment to community care and awareness.

The campaign brought together guests, corporate partners, and the wider community through two meaningful initiatives the Pink Charity Walk 2025 and the Pink Elegance Afternoon Tea, both dedicated to raising awareness, inspiring hope and supporting those affected by breast cancer. The Pink Charity Walk, held on 28 September 2025, transformed a Sunday morning into a celebration of unity, with more than 300 participants gathering in a sea of pink for a 5-km journey symbolising strength and solidarity.

Adding to the vibrancy was the Pink Bazaar, which featured an engaging line-up of partners: BCWA conducted merchandise sales and complimentary breast screenings via the MURNI Mobile Clinic; St. John Ambulance was present as emergency responders, BOMBA and Hello Doktor, Vealth.my, KL Tower, Helping Hands Penan, Kiddo Care, Nespresso, and TRYKE.my each contributed to the day’s spirit of advocacy and togetherness. The success of the Pink Charity Walk was made possible through the generous support of sponsors Kuok Brothers Sdn Bhd, PPB Properties Sdn Bhd and Multi Engineering & Construction Sdn Bhd whose contributions reflected a shared belief in compassion and community wellbeing.

Throughout October, the Pink Elegance Afternoon Tea at the Lobby Lounge extended the campaign’s purpose, offering guests a graceful way to give back. A portion of proceeds from each afternoon tea set was channelled to BCWA to support its outreach, advocacy, and educational programmes.

“We are profoundly moved by the incredible generosity, spirit, and unity shown by everyone who took part in our Pink October initiatives. Every contribution, big or small, reflects the strength of a community that cares deeply and stands together for a meaningful cause. The success of this campaign goes far beyond the funds raised; it lives in the compassion, hope, and awareness it continues to spark in all of us. This is the true essence of Shangri-La hospitality, caring for one another and our communities from the heart,” said Daniel Kaeflein, General Manager of Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur.

Looking ahead, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur is thrilled to announce that the Pink Charity Walk 2026 will take place on 27 September 2026! This much-anticipated event will once again bring together our community in a vibrant celebration of hope, advocacy, and unity, continuing our shared journey to make a meaningful and lasting impact. We look forward to welcoming you to the Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur’s 2026 Pink Charity Walk.

As Pink October 2025 draws to a close, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur remains steadfast in its mission to make a difference through meaningful community initiatives, spreading hope, compassion, and the true essence of Shangri-La hospitality.
