A Taste of Heritage — The Library’s Afternoon Tea at The RuMa Hotel

November 24, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

Hidden within the serene sophistication of The RuMa Hotel and Residences, The Library invites guests to indulge in a storytelling tea ritual unlike any other. Its signature experience, “Chapters of Heritage” Afternoon Tea, is more than just a dining affair — it’s a poetic journey through Malaysia’s flavours, traditions, and artistry.

Each afternoon begins with a handwashing ritual, a graceful act that pays homage to Malaysian hospitality before guests are seated at bespoke congkak boards — a symbolic bridge between heritage and modern refinement.

A Taste of Heritage, Told in Chapters

Priced at RM158 per person (“The Prelude”) and RM348 for two (“The Grand Volume”), this multi-sensory experience unfolds in beautifully curated chapters, reflecting The Library’s commitment to elegance, locality, and sustainability.

Chapter One: Savoury opens the story with refined bites — Angus short rib pie with quail egg and pecorino cheese, Arancini with mud crab and puffed rice, and Vol-au-vent with turmeric chicken and sesame — harmonising familiar Malaysian notes with European finesse.

Chapter Two: Sweets delights with tropical indulgence — Coconut Pandan Cake with Palm Sugar and Paris-Brest with Cameron Highlands Passionfruit — while Chapter Three: Artisanal Scones revives tradition with Classic Plain and Golden Raisin Scones, served alongside house-made kaya, clotted cream, and sustainably crafted orange marmalade.

Chapter Four: The Trolley Delights adds a touch of theatre, presenting Madeleines, Quiche with baby spinach and feta cheese, and Smoked Salmon Sandwiches from a roaming trolley — a nostalgic nod to the golden age of tea service.

The Grand Finale — A Choice of Wellingtons

For an elevated weekend affair, The Library introduces “The Final Chapter”, available exclusively on Saturdays and Sundays. Guests can choose between two exquisite main courses, both crafted to perfection:

🥩 Beef Wellington — Aromatic spice Angus beef fillet wrapped in golden pastry, wild mushrooms, and finished with anise jus.

🐟 Salmon Wellington — Norwegian salmon fillet with spinach and golden pastry, topped with caviar and kaffir lime beurre blanc.

Each dish, priced at RM148 nett, reflects The Library’s mastery of balance — bold in flavour, refined in presentation, and deeply satisfying.

“Our ‘Chapters of Heritage’ celebrates Malaysia’s culinary soul while weaving in timeless European techniques,” says the culinary team at The Library. “It’s not just about tea — it’s about storytelling through every detail, from ritual to recipe.”

With its elegant interiors, calming tones, and impeccable service, The Library transforms afternoon tea into a modern ritual — an intimate escape where time stands still, and tradition meets innovation.
