Nestlé Malaysia Initiates Production of NESCAFÉ Espresso Concentrate in Shah Alam for All Asian Markets

August 26, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

Nestlé Malaysia today marked a significant milestone with the official launch of the production of NESCAFÉ Espresso Concentrate at the Sri Muda factory in Shah Alam (Selangor). This launch further strengthens Malaysia’s strategic role in Nestlé’s global manufacturing and innovation network. With this important launch, NESCAFÉ provides an innovative and high-quality product solution to cater to the rapidly expanding cold coffee consumption across Asia.

The Sri Muda factory in Shah Alam is the main manufacturing base for Ready-to-Drink UHT and recycled PET (rPET) products in the Region. With the recent addition of the Coffee Concentrate capability and investment, this site becomes one of the more advanced of its kind worldwide, after completing investments exceeding half a billion ringgit through the last decade. The new line will serve fast rising demand across domestic and export markets, including Singapore, Oceania, and MENA (UAE, Qatar, Kuwait) with potential expansion into other ASEAN countries, as well as Europe. With this strategic move, Nestlé’s Sri Muda factory further reinforces Nestlé Malaysia as a key Halal manufacturing hub for the Nestlé group worldwide.
Malaysia was once again selected by the Nestlé Group globally as a strategic manufacturing location and sourcing hub for Asian markets, building on its competitive infrastructure, local talent and demonstrated capabilities. Indeed, Nestlé Malaysia’s Sri Muda Factory in Shah Alam has a proven track record in liquid manufacturing, as it already produces a wide range of Ready-to-Drink products under the MILO, NESCAFÉ and NESTLÉ OMEGA PLUS brands. Its strategic location also provides efficient access to ingredient sourcing, a highly skilled workforce and robust logistic infrastructure, further enabling its role as an export hub.
Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer, Nestlé Malaysia, said, “The successful completion of this investment and today’s official launch mark another important milestone for Nestlé Malaysia. NESCAFÉ Espresso Concentrate is set to tap into new and innovative growth opportunities in the very dynamic coffee space that are especially relevant for the younger generations who are embarking into their discovery of the coffee culture. With the Group renewing its trust in Nestlé Malaysia to bring to life important projects like this, we are seeding new platforms for future growth, while bringing exciting and convenient ways to enjoy Malaysians’ most loved coffee brand: NESCAFÉ!  With this project, we will also create additional employment opportunities and further develop our role as a Regional Export Hub and key Halal manufacturing centre for the Nestlé Group globally.”
Raef Labaki, Business Executive Officer of Coffee, Nestlé Malaysia, added, “NESCAFÉ Espresso Concentrate is an exciting innovation that reflects how we are reshaping the future of coffee experiences for consumers. It enables us to tap into the fast-growing cold coffee segment, particularly relevant amongst the younger consumers seeking premium café-style moments at home. This launch reinforces NESCAFÉ’s commitment to delivering a great cup of coffee anytime, anywhere, made with the highest quality Arabica and Robusta coffee beans, for all coffee lovers to enjoy in here in Malaysia and across the region.”
In line with Nestlé’s global sustainability ambition, NESCAFÉ Espresso Concentrate is packaged in 100% rPET bottles and Carbon Black Free Pigment caps. Indeed, the Sri Muda Factory has been a global pioneer in adopting environmentally friendly packaging solutions, suppressing over 1 billion of plastic straws since 2019, replacing plastic wrappers by sustainable paper solutions and being the first Company in ASEAN to adopt 100% rPET across all its bottled drinks.
This milestone builds on Nestlé’s deep and ongoing investment in Malaysia. Over the past five years alone, the company has invested close to RM1.5 billion to expand and upgrade its local footprint and capabilities, including the conjoint development of an advanced integrated logistics hub in Port Klang targeted for completion in 2026, along with major upgrades to flagship facilities such as the MILO plant in Chembong and Batu Tiga factories. These efforts are aimed at elevating competitiveness, future-proof operations and nurture local talent as Nestlé continues its journey of sustainable growth.
