Sky-High Flavours and Nostalgia: Wondermama @ The Toffee Elevates Malaysian Comfort Food with a View

July 9, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

In the heart of Kuala Lumpur, perched along Jalan Raja Chulan, sits a culinary gem that blends local nostalgia with skyline grandeur—Wondermama @ The Toffee. With a front-row seat to the majestic Menara 118, the world’s second-tallest tower, this rooftop eatery offers more than just food; it offers a feast for all the senses.

From the moment diners step into Wondermama @ The Toffee, they’re greeted with warm retro aesthetics, a contemporary Malaysian menu, and an impressive panoramic view that sets the stage for a dining experience unlike any other. Whether you’re seated indoors or al fresco on the breezy terrace, the star of the show—Menara 118—dominates the skyline, adding an unforgettable visual element to every bite.

A Celebration of Local Flavours

Wondermama has always been about celebrating Malaysian soul food, and at its Toffee outlet, that ethos continues with creative flair. The restaurant proudly offers pork free dining, making it a halal-friendly haven for families, friends, and tourists looking to indulge in beloved local dishes with a modern twist.

The Soft-Shell Crab Salad kicks off the meal with a textural contrast of crispy golden crab atop fresh greens, brought to life with a tangy dressing that awakens the palate.

For mains, the Ayam I Love Kampung lives up to its name—juicy kampung-style chicken, pan-fried until crisp on the outside and tender inside, served with rustic home-cooked charm.

Another fan-favourite is the Big Mama Chicken Chop, a thick, succulent piece of boneless chicken drenched in savoury brown sauce. It comes with classic accompaniments like fries, slaw, and toast, delivering pure comfort and nostalgia on a plate.

Dim sum lovers won’t feel left out. The Siew Mai and Char Siew Pao, made with chicken, bring familiar textures and flavours to the table.

The Egg Tart, with its buttery flaky crust and smooth custard filling, rounds off the savouries with finesse.

Sips and Sweets with a View

A meal at Wondermama @ The Toffee wouldn’t be complete without a signature beverage (or three). The towering Psycho Milo is a decadent cold treat brimming with crushed Milo goodness, while the Teh Tarik Madu—a honey-sweetened version of the beloved local tea—offers a soothing contrast. For a sharper edge, the Apple Asamboi delivers a punchy, sweet-sour hit that refreshes instantly.

Brunch-goers and sweet-tooths alike will adore the French Toast, soft and golden with a sweet drizzle, often accompanied by seasonal fruits or sauces that elevate it from simple to sublime.

Dining Among Icons

The real magic happens as the city begins to glow at dusk. Menara 118 rises into view, bathed in light, its silhouette turning every meal into a memory. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, catching up with friends, or simply treating yourself to a good meal with a view, Wondermama @ The Toffee is more than a restaurant—it’s a rooftop retreat that reconnects diners with homegrown flavours, high above the city streets.
