Shabu-Yo Heats Up 1 Utama: Japan’s No.1 Shabu-Shabu Experience Lands in PJ

June 13, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

The unmistakable aroma of simmering broth, sizzling meats, and fresh vegetables now fills the air at 1 Utama Shopping Centre — because Shabu-Yo, Japan’s largest shabu-shabu restaurant chain, has officially arrived.

This marks Shabu-Yo’s seventh outlet in Malaysia, a testament to its growing popularity among local diners who crave authentic Japanese hotpot. And what an opening it was: with a ribbon-cutting led by key figures like Mr. Tetsunori Kagawa, Director of Skylark Malaysia, and Mr. Tomoharu Sato, Shabu-Yo Operation Manager, the launch brought together top executives, mall representatives, and media for a celebration of culinary culture.

Walking into the space, guests are greeted by an elegant yet welcoming interior, designed to make you feel like you’ve stepped straight into Japan. But the star here isn’t just the décor — it’s the exceptional dining experience.

At the heart of Shabu-Yo’s appeal is its all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu buffet, starting from an incredibly reasonable RM39.90++. Diners can indulge in unlimited portions of thinly sliced premium pork, beef, chicken, and a rainbow of fresh, crunchy vegetables. For wagyu lovers, premium Australian wagyu beef takes center stage, offering melt-in-your-mouth tenderness that rivals top steakhouses.

But what truly sets Shabu-Yo apart is its signature sauce bar — a dazzling lineup of around 30 house-made sauces that allow diners to craft their own flavour profiles. Whether you prefer a spicy sesame punch, a citrusy ponzu dip, or a delicate miso-scallion blend, every bite can be tailored exactly to your liking.

The sides are no afterthought either. Crispy karaage chicken, piping-hot takoyaki, and an assortment of Japanese small bites round out the spread, ensuring there’s something for every palate. With 90-minute lunch and 120-minute dinner slots, diners have plenty of time to relax, savour, and feast.

According to Managing Director Mr. Nishioka Hidekazu, “1 Utama is the perfect place for Shabu-Yo’s next chapter, given the local community’s deep love for Japanese food and culture.” He’s right — few places could better showcase Shabu-Yo’s refined take on hotpot dining than one of Klang Valley’s premier lifestyle destinations.

For those who have yet to experience Shabu-Yo, the 1 Utama outlet is a must-visit. It’s not just another buffet — it’s a culinary experience that honours the art of Japanese shabu-shabu, blending top-quality ingredients, personalisation, and exceptional value.

With seven outlets and counting, Shabu-Yo is poised to become the go-to name for hotpot lovers across Malaysia. And with this new location, they’re certainly turning up the heat.
