 There is something primal yet deeply sophisticated about cooking with fire. The sizzle as flames kiss the surface of a perfectly marbled steak, the whisper of smoke infusing layers of flavor, the golden char that transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary—this is the essence of CHARR Dining.

Nestled in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, CHARR Dining is more than just a restaurant; it is an ode to the art of wood-fired cooking, where every dish tells a story of passion, precision, and an unwavering commitment to flavor. At CHARR Dining, fire is not merely a tool—it is the heart of the experience. Every dish is kissed by flame, infused with smoke, and elevated by the Maillard reaction, the culinary alchemy that deepens flavors through caramelization. The menu is a masterful blend of tradition and innovation, where premium ingredients meet the transformative power of open-fire cooking. Here, smoke is not just an afterthought but an essential ingredient—one that adds depth, complexity, and a lingering richness that stays with you long after the last bite.

Behind CHARR Dining is a team of culinary artisans who believe in honoring the past while pushing the boundaries of modern gastronomy. “We wanted to create a dining experience that is both rooted in tradition and forward-thinking. Cooking with fire is one of the oldest techniques known to humankind, yet it remains one of the most exciting. Our goal was simple: to master it,” shares Chef Leong Chee Mun, co-founder of CHARR Dining.

With over a decade of experience in the food and beverage industry, the vision behind CHARR was clear from the start: to perfect the art of wood-fired cuisine. Every ingredient, every technique, and every presentation is designed to showcase the raw beauty of fire-driven flavors.

The journey begins with small yet powerfully flavorful bites that awaken the palate

Pommes Anna 

A delicate yet indulgent dish, featuring layers of crispy potatoes, herb crema, and a luxurious touch of smoked trout roe. A perfect harmony of texture and taste.

Chicken Wings 

A bold and fiery take on a classic, these wings are coated in Thai-inspired pad kra pao seasoning and finished with a spicy hot sauce for an addictive kick. Love every bites of it and this is sinfully good. 

Toasts: Where Texture Meets Boldness

The toast selection is an interplay of flavors, textures, and exquisite ingredients:

✔ Wagyu Beef Tongue – Tender, smoky, and rich, this dish is served with naan bread, harissa yogurt, and a perfectly cooked quail egg. The warmth of the fire enhances the depth of the beef tongue, making every bite a revelation.

✔ Foie Gras – A luxurious treat, pairing buttery foie gras with the delicate sweetness of pandan kaya and egg jam, finished with soy salt. Served on brioche, it is a perfect balance of umami, sweetness, and indulgence.

✔ Burnt Onion – A vegetarian masterpiece, featuring creamy stracciatella cheese, herbaceous chimichurri, and bursts of ikura (salmon roe). Smoky, creamy, and tangy, this dish highlights the beauty of simple ingredients elevated by fire.

✔ White Corn – Sweet meets spice in this charred corn dish, elevated with fermented jalapeño and Parmigiano Reggiano. A perfect fusion of smoky, creamy, and umami-rich flavors.

Mains: The Heart of CHARR

The mains offer a selection of expertly fire-cooked proteins, each telling a story of smoke, seasoning, and culinary craftsmanship.

✔ Catch of the Day – A seafood masterpiece, featuring the freshest catch, bathed in aromatic Singapore laksa sauce and complemented by pickled ginger flower. A vibrant dish that celebrates the natural flavors of the sea with a fiery twist.

✔ Sanchoku Wagyu MB7 – The crown jewel of the menu, this marble-score 7 Wagyu is grilled to perfection, allowing its rich, buttery texture to shine. Served with smoked shallots and a deep, umami-packed beef jus, it is a true indulgence for meat lovers.

The Grand Finale: A Sweet Indulgence

The meal concludes with one of two beautifully crafted desserts, offering the perfect balance of richness and refinement:

✔ Lava Tart – A decadent dark chocolate tart, paired with smoked vanilla ice cream for a luxurious combination of deep, molten chocolate and smoky, creamy coolness.

✔ Choux Craquelin – A French-inspired delight, filled with pineapple and crème diplomat, offering a delicate, airy sweetness with a touch of tropical brightness.
