A BLEND OF COASTAL AND CULTURAL HERITAGE – M SOCIAL RESORT PENANG SET TO OPEN IN MARCH 2025

March 4, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

Upscale lifestyle brand “M Social” by Millennium Hotels and  Resorts (MHR) is embarking on a new venture with its 7th property, M Social Resort Penang  (formerly Copthorne Orchid Hotel Penang). Set to open in phases from 1 March 2025, the  resort is home to 318 stylish rooms and suites across two buildings and features an outdoor  pool and all-day access gym.

Anchored in the vibrant coastal suburb of Tanjung Bungah, George Town, also known as  “Flower Cape” in Malay, the resort seamlessly combines the tranquil surroundings with a rich  cultural heritage. A short distance from key attractions like Gurney Plaza, Gurney Paragon  Mall, and Penang Street Art, the resort presents a charming blend of relaxation and exploration  for the tastemakers drawn to art and culture.

“We are thrilled to launch M Social Resort Penang in such a culturally rich and naturally  beautiful location, and will strive to be the hotel of choice for the new generation of travellers  seeking immersive experiences that spark curiosity about the island while enjoying modern  comfort and unparalleled service,” said General Manager of M Social Resort Penang, Ms  Jasmine Keh.

“There is no cookie-cutter template across our properties. Each property is a distinct  experience underscored by our commitment to offer more than just a stay. Our MyMillennium  loyalty programme reinforces this goal by creating lasting relationships with our guests. While

the destination paves the way for new adventures, our personalised service makes guests feel at home with comfort as our top priority,” said MHR Interim Chief Operating Officer and  Chief Commercial Officer, Mr Saurabh Prakash.

The design carries influences from the iconic Peranakan shophouses that line the street,  melded with the enchanting allure of the sea. A canvas that celebrates the vibrant location,  creative and playful shades of pink, green and blue paints the resort’s facade and interior;  these colours are inspired by nature in the surrounding island.

Divided into two wings — The Sunset Bay Wing offers four room and suite types, each  boasting breathtaking views of the island’s northern coast while the Azure Wing features three  room and suite types, ideal for families and small groups, featuring stunning beachfront views.  Every room is equipped with an in-room Aiello voice control assistant for a fuss-free stay with  access to controls and hotel information with a simple voice command. A 55-inch smart TV,  high-speed Wi-Fi, coffee and tea-making station, hairdryer, a mini bar and in-room safe are  also available in all rooms. For business meetings or celebratory gatherings, the spacious 482  sqm Grand Ballroom is a versatile space with a range of in-house amenities to accommodate  a variety of occasions.

M Social Penang’s design beautifully mirrors the vibrancy of UNESCO World Heritage Site  George Town’s splendour, blending Peranakan influences with modern touches. Drawing  inspiration from the city’s iconic shophouses, the hotel embodies the fusion of Chinese, Malay,  and European cultures, celebrating Penang’s rich melting pot of heritage. Ornate geometric  patterns evoke the traditional tiles of these historical buildings, while the floral motifs celebrate  the hotel’s location in Tanjung Bungah—where “bunga” means “flower” in Malay. The colour  palette of rose pink, sky blue, sea green, and cream mirrors the vivid facades of Penang’s  streets and the surrounding natural beauty, from the lush greenery of Penang Hill to the serene  waters that embrace the island. This thoughtful design invites guests to immerse themselves  in the rich cultural tapestry and natural elegance of Penang.

Beast and Butterflies Restaurant

Guests are in for a decadent treat at M Social’s signature restaurant, Beast and Butterflies,  offering both authentic Peranakan and international cuisine made with quality, fresh local  ingredients, a destination dining experience that caters to every palate. Overlooking the  serene surroundings is The Social Hub, the perfect lounge space to relax and refuel over  afternoon high teas and elegant cocktails. The outdoor beckons with an inviting selection of  bar bites and drinks at Breezy Bites, the resort’s poolside bar, as the space comes alive with  music, games and poolside fun.

To mark the hotel’s soft opening with its first 87 rooms, M Social Penang is introducing the  Island Escape – Penang Stay & Feast package, starting from MYR 888++ for two guests.  This exclusive two-night package provides access to the Sunset Bay Wing’s Social Cozy  rooms (available in king and twin options). It includes daily breakfast for two at the signature  dining concept, Beast & Butterflies. Guests will also enjoy a RM 100 food voucher (redeemable  from now until 30 June 2025) and entrance tickets to the renowned Tropical Spice Garden for  two.

The package is available for bookings and stays from now until 31 December 2025, with a  minimum two-night stay requirement and flexible cancellation options.

In addition to the Island Escape package, M Social Penang is offering a “Stay. Savour. Earn.”  Package, which includes perks such as signature welcome drinks upon arrival. MyMillennium  members enjoy additional 5% off stays and 5X MyPoints.

This offer is available for bookings and stays by 30 June 2025.

These packages are designed to offer a balanced combination of relaxation and cultural  exploration, with flexible terms and an exclusive range of benefits for MyMillennium members.
