Celebrate the Lunar New Year in Splendor at Toh Yuen, Hilton Petaling Jaya

As the Year of the Snake approaches, there’s no better way to welcome a prosperous and joyous Lunar New Year than by feasting with loved ones at Toh Yuen, Hilton Petaling Jaya. 

Known for its dedication to authentic flavors and exquisite presentation, Toh Yuen is pulling out all the stops this festive season to deliver an unforgettable dining experience. To make the celebrations even more special, diners can take advantage of an exclusive early bird offer of 25% off for groups of 10 or more. However, this offer is only valid until January 15, 2025, so early reservations are highly recommended.

No Lunar New Year celebration is complete without Yee Sang, the traditional dish that symbolizes abundance, prosperity, and vigor. At Toh Yuen, Chef Dexter Lai takes this beloved tradition to new heights with his signature creations. With nearly two decades of culinary expertise, Chef Lai’s inventive yet deeply rooted approach results in Yee Sang variations that captivate both the eye and the palate. And this time, the yee sang comes with the wide variety where one can enjoy their yee sang with Abalone, Hokkaido Scallop, and Akemi Tuna Sashimi, elevated with a touch of Truffle Oil for a luxurious twist. 

Each platter of Yee Sang is a vibrant medley of colors, textures, and flavors, featuring components like scallop sashimi, crispy fried fish skin, cashews, candied peel, jackfruit strips, freshly shredded vegetables, and pickles. The combination of invigorating flavors creates a perfectly balanced dish that sets the tone for an exceptional meal

Braised Fish Maw Broth with Crab Meat and Dried Scallops

We started off with the perfectly prepared Braised Fish Maw Broth with Crab Meat and Dried Scallops. The soup that impresses us with its smooth texture, light viscosity, and rich marine flavors. Each spoonful is a comforting reminder of traditional festive meals shared across generations.

Steamed Chicken with Cordyceps Mushroom Gravy 

For those seeking robust flavors, the Steamed Chicken with Cordyceps Mushroom Gravy is a highlight. The fall-off-the-bone tender chicken, paired with an aromatic, herb-infused gravy, offers a delightful balance of texture and taste. 

Steamed Dragon Tiger Garoupa with Chopped Scallion and Garlic. 

Seafood lovers will be thrilled by the Steamed Dragon Tiger Garoupa with Chopped Scallion and Garlic. This expertly prepared dish showcases the natural sweetness and succulence of the fish, complemented by fragrant aromatics. Although slightly on the salty side, the dish’s impeccable doneness ensures it remains a crowd favorite.

Wok-Fried Tiger Prawns with Sichuan Style Sauce

For those who enjoy a fiery kick, the Wok-Fried Tiger Prawns with Sichuan Style Sauce bring the heat. Infused with Sichuan peppercorns, the dish delivers a tantalizing zing that is balanced by a slick of savory soya sauce. Love every  bites of it so much

The Braised Sea Cucumber with Shitake Mushroom and Seasonal Vegetables

 The Braised Sea Cucumber with Shitake Mushroom and Seasonal Vegetables embodies these sentiments perfectly. The dish features a rich, flavorful sauce enhanced with fine strands of seamoss, adding a touch of elegance to the traditional offering.

Fried Glutinous Rice and Dried Oyster wrapped in Lotus Leaves 

Another classic to savor is the Fried Glutinous Rice and Dried Oyster wrapped in Lotus Leaves. The sticky rice, infused with the umami notes of dried oysters, is beautifully presented and leaves diners feeling satisfied and nostalgic for traditional Lunar New Year flavors.

To conclude the meal on a high note, Toh Yuen offers a duo of desserts that are both simple and delightful. The Chilled Honey Dew Puree with Pumpkin Konnyaku provides a refreshing sweetness, while the Steamed Rice Cake with Grated Coconut and Red Bean Wagashi is a comforting nod to traditional flavors. Together, these desserts provide a satisfying and memorable end to the celebratory feast.

In addition to the festive set menus, Toh Yuen will also feature an à la carte Dim Sum menu during the Lunar New Year season. Available for breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays (8:00 AM to 11:00 AM) from January 11 to February 9, 2025, as well as on weekdays from January 29 to 31, 2025, this offering allows diners to enjoy handcrafted Dim Sum delicacies in a cozy and welcoming setting.

The Golden Set menu, which we had the pleasure of trying, is available at RM1,688 nett for 6 persons or RM2,888 nett for 10 persons. These set menus offer an excellent variety of dishes to suit both intimate family gatherings and larger celebrations.
