Global technology brand OnePlus has today unveiled the design of the upcoming OnePlus 12. The design of the OnePlus 12 represents an evolution and continuity of the well-accepted OnePlus 11, incorporating refinements and purposeful changes.
The Change of Physical Placement of the Iconic Alert Slider
The most prominent design change on the OnePlus 12 is to switch the Alert Slider to the left-hand side of the phone, which allows OnePlus to introduce a new integrated antenna and the Alert Slider solution on the new device to deliver an enhanced antenna performance for gaming.
Based on internal testing, it has been determined that the optimal position for gaming antennas is between the forefingers of the user when the phone is held in landscape orientation. However, the space is currently occupied by the Alert Slider on the OnePlus 11. By relocating the Alert Slider to the opposite side of the phone, better gaming antennas can be deployed on the OnePlus 12.
The repositioning of the Alert Slider presents a challenge in ensuring optimal antenna signal strength on the same side of the phone. To tackle this issue, OnePlus utilizes Ultra-compact Full-band Antenna technology and industry-first Alert Slider Antenna Integration technology to minimize the space occupied by the Alert Slider to the greatest extent possible. As a result, a balance between better antenna signal performance and the presence of the Alert Slider is achieved on the OnePlus 12. According to the lab test data by OnePlus, the gaming antenna signal can be improved by 3dB, with the game latency reduced by 15%.

The ever-changing and fluid pattern of the braided rivers served as the wellspring of inspiration for the OnePlus 12 design. To capture the mesmerizing beauty of the braided river on the OnePlus 12, the design team used the 3X periscope telephoto camera of the OnePlus 12 supported by the 4th Gen Hasselblad Camera for Mobile and then employed the latest AG technology to imprint it onto the glass surface of the device. The result was a meticulously crafted texture, perfectly replicating the interwoven strands and breathing vibrant life into the device, seamlessly harmonizing with its cutting-edge technology.
