The George Hotel Penang: Colonial Elegance in the Heart of George Town

October 3, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

When I was planning my trip back to Penang, I was googling on hotel for a staycation with my family. And this time, we found out about The George where they are located along Penang Road. The hotel is beautiful stand at the corner of the road, bringing you with the impressive colonial style hotel.

hey are right at the corner across the famous Line Clear Nasi Kandar and is nearby Kheng Pin where they are famed for their Char Koay Teow, Lor Bak and Chicken Rice.

This hotel occupies a prime spot where traffic from Chulia Street and Penang Road converges at the intersection. Not just that, they are also nearby all the famous eateries and the famous Chowrasta market which is walkable too.

The hotel brings you with the total of 30 suites and 62 rooms spread across four floors. And the hotel comes with the cosy ambience, great service when we are staying there. Upon walking to the hotel, we are greeted by their staff and then after a fast procedure of checking in, we headed our room.

During our stay, we experience of the Executive Suites where the room is so spacious and it comes with double bed as family room. They also comes with a sofa bed which makes is so comfortable for a family of four. The suite offers fantastic views of GeorgeTown’s lively cityscape and whats more is the cosy bed which led us to a good sleep.

The room is so spacious and yet cosy, and I can really enjoy and spending time with my kids at home as they are so spacious that my kids have ample space to run around.

What makes it special is where their toilet complete with the warm bidet . They also have soft plush mat to stand on while you are brushing your teeth or even doing your makeup. And not the just that, the bathtub is so nice and relaxing and we definitely enjoy a good soak in the tub.

The George offers two dining options on the ground floor. The George Bar is a quiet and cozy spot for drinks and conversations, located near the reception area. Then there’s Saffron Dining, an all-day dining venue serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Saffron Dining is conveniently located near the entrance and easily noticeable from the bustling intersection.

I thoroughly enjoyed the buffet breakfast at Saffron Dining; it was a great start to the day.

Overall, my stay at The George was truly amazing and unforgettable. I look forward to the opportunity to return in the future!
