HoMinSan @ Mid Valley

July 11, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

HoMinSan is a Chinese restaurant that specializes in Cantonese-style rice vermicelli (米线) and Shanghainese pan-fried buns (生煎包). The restaurant is owned by the Dragon-i Group, which also manages other popular Chinese restaurants such as Dragon-i and Canton-i.

Located in Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur, HoMinSan offers an extensive menu of traditional, authentic dishes from Yunnan and Sichuan provinces, as well as authentic noodles imported from China. The restaurant aims to provide exquisite products, thoughtful services, and a comfortable atmosphere to create the sensation of “creative fusion noodles.”

Shanghainese Pan-fried Pork Dumplings 猪肉生煎包

One of the must-try dishes at HoMinSan is the Shanghainese Pan-fried Pork Dumplings 猪肉生煎包. Priced at RM 5.80 for 2 pieces and RM 10.80 for 4 pieces, these dumplings are a clever combination of dumpling and xiao long bao. The outer layer is crisp and yet thin, while the filling is juicy and flavorful. Each dumpling is filled with meat and broth that left us yearning for more. One can choose to garnish it with the specialized chili provided on every table, but we felt doing so caused the natural sweetness of the broth to be masked by the spiciness from the chili.

Noodles with Fried Fish Beancurd and Fish Paste in Signature Soup

Another dish that we highly recommend is the Noodles with Fried Fish Beancurd and Fish Paste in Signature Soup. The fish paste is perfectly made where the meat is so juicy and we love the fish paste itself. Served with the MiXian and the flavourful soup, this is just a tummy warming dish especially during a cold rainy day.

The fried fish beancurd adds a crunchy texture to the dish, while the fish paste provides an additional depth of flavor.

Braised Pork Rice

For those who prefer rice-based dishes, Ho Min San also offers Braised Pork Rice. The Braised Pork Rice comes with juicy meat that is perfectly braised, and it is served with green vegetables and a braised egg. The rice is cooked to perfection, with each grain retaining its texture and flavor.

Tau Fu Fah

We end our meal with their Tau Fu Fah. The tau fu fah is impressive with the soft and velvety texture. Love it!

Overall, HoMinSan is an excellent choice for those who are looking for authentic Chinese cuisine. The food is of high quality, and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant’s cozy and welcoming atmosphere also adds to the overall dining experience.
