EQ USHERS IN THE YEAR OF THE RAT 2020

January 23, 2020 by StrawberrY Gal

Celebrating the Year of the Rat’s spirit of progression and new beginnings, Kuala Lumpur’s newest 5-star hotel invites guests to enjoy sumptuous festive gastronomy experiences throughout January and February with vibrant decorations and roars of laughter.

Chinese New Year Pop-Up
Chinese New Year is the most anticipated festival of the Chinese calendar – a time for reconnecting with friends and family, and sharing precious time together over auspicious dishes. Having had more than 25 years of success running Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur’s signature Chinese restaurant, the Golden Phoenix (金凤楼), EQ will be setting up their banquet halls as a Chinese restaurant and featuring more than 20 new dishes from 13 January– 20 February 2020 for tables of 10 for lunch and dinner.

Of the 4 carefully prepared sets to choose from, Executive Sous Chef Tan Tzaan Liing’s exclusive Golden Phoenix-inspired menu is the highlight of the highly anticipated pop-up. Chef Tan comes from a long line of chefs and has more than 35 years of experience around Asia. Honouring tradition, Chef Tan will be paying homage to the Golden Phoenix’s popular dishes while embracing modern taste buds with his recreations. This menu features dishes such as the Golden Phoenix Classic Tasmanian Salmon and Tropical Caviar Yee Sang, Wok-Fried Boston Lobster with Kaffir Lime Leaf Mayo and Golden Garlic as well as the classic favourite from the 1970’s, Loh Mai Chi with Fried Nian Gao. Golden Phoenix-Inspired Menu – RM5,838+ per table of 10 persons

Prosperity Rat Menu – RM2,788+ per table of 10 persons
Longevity Rat Menu – RM2,588+ per table of 10 persons
Celestial Rat Menu – RM2,388+ per table of 10 persons
*Reservations are required
