
Being one of the famous dining space for Ramadhan, it is time to revisit Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa’s Annual Jemput Makan themed buffet. With over 400 authentic dishes cooked up by a brigade of chefs led by Chef Mohamad Yatim Supaat, Sous Chef Tournant of The Resort Café who has over 20 years of experience working in local and international hotels. The team is set to tantalise the local palates with a multitude of mouth-watering selections served indoor on the restaurant’s expansive buffet spread and outdoor with ten (10) food highlights in bazaar-style stations with live-action cooking from 6 May to 4 June 2019; serving nightly from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.
And this year, one will defiantly enjoy the specialities from The Resort Café for its blend of timeless and classic recipes to entice and rekindle the palate to be introduced this year.

Setting up the centre stage with ten (10) main stall highlights, one can enjoy the wide choices of offerings from the savoury to sweet awaits. In here, one can enjoy the Ramadhan Bazaar-like concept which includes live stations which filled the air with the enticing aromas.

The ten (10) stalls includes the Assam Pedas Gearbox Station, Churrasco Station, Seafood Bakar Station, Golek Station, Kawah Station, Warisan Station, Noodle Station, Nasi Station, Satay Station and Goreng-goreng Station. We started off with the Assam Pedas Gearbox Station, the Chefs have given a new twist to the restaurant’s signature Sup Gearbox Turbo by serving it with Assam Pedas soup instead. This favourite dish is cooked over a slow fire for eight (8) hours and individual bone marrow which is the prized ingredient of this dish is served to diners from a large cauldron, providing diners with a visual feast and aromatic treat. Each mouthful comes with the aromatic blend and flavours which is such a perfect indulgence.
As for the Churrasco Station, you will definitely get the taste of the tender and juicy grilled to-perfection meats, fresh vegetables and fruits making it a wonderland for those who are craving for all all-you-can-eat grilled beef, chicken and lamb. Guests can also try a selection of Middle East offerings like Minced Chicken Kebab, Minced Seafood Kofta Kebab and more.
At the Seafood Bakar Station, fresh seafood like Fish – Ikan Pari, Kembong, Hokkaido Squid, Prawns, Kupang, Prawns, Clams and more will be grilled a la minute by the chefs. These can be thoroughly enjoyed with the variety of home-made sambals.
The Golek Station will feature a whole lamb, where the chefs will slice the succulent meat directly unto the diners’ plate. The lamb is marinated overnight with over 25 different local spices and mixed herbs such as old ginger, garlic, lemongrass, galangal, salt, masala, coriander, yoghurt, mint leaves and cumin powder before slowly roasting for four (4) hours to retain its moisture, producing a tender and juicy meat for diners to enjoy.
The Kawah Station features a selection of Gulai Kawah that will be served in super-large cauldrons. With a selection of two or three Gulai Kawah served nightly from eight (8) rotational varieties, the list of Gulai Kawah comprises of Gulai Ayam Kampung, Gulai Ikan Tenggiri, Gulai Ayam Lengkus, Gulai Ikan Siakap Kepak, Gulai Daging, Gulai Kambing, Gulai Ikan Pali and Gulai Nangka Muda.

The Churrasco Station will feature a variety of tender and juicy grilled-to-perfection meats, fresh vegetables and fruits making it a wonderland for those craving for all-you-can-eat grilled beef, chicken and lamb. Some other selection featured includes their all-time -time favourite traditional and timeless dishes like Rendang Tok, Serunding, Bubur Lambuk, Lemang Bakar and Ketupat guaranteed to take guests on a nostalgic journey reminiscing the old days.
Noodle lovers are also in for a treat with local favourites fried kway teow and mee goreng, prepared on the spot and a variety of soup and gravy based noodles at the Noodle Station which includes the Nyonya Laksa Lemak, Assam Laksa, Prawn Mee and Wonton Mee Soup. Here, diners are able to select their own choice of noodles where the chef will then blanch it in boiling water before pouring the hot flavourful broth and topping it with fresh garnish.
As for those who prefer some rice, go for their Nasi Station. The Nasi Station features nine (9) varieties of speciality rice dishes with the must-try for the season, the Stuffed Quail Briyani – a popular Briyani dish especially amongst those who love quail. The dish is prepared with flavourful Briyani Rice stuffed in quail meat which has been marinated for a few hours with numerous aromatic spices, yogurt and herbs. The other speciality rice dishes on the buffet rotation include the Nasi Bukhari, Nasi Hujan Panas, Oriental Rice, Steamed Rice, Nasi Minyak, and a selection of Middle Eastern preparation like the Nasi Mandi, Maqluba and Kabsa.
One of a must station to go is The Satay Station. The Satay Station is the ever so popular local favourite starter which includes beef satay and chicken satay seasoned, skewered and grilled to perfection over a charcoal grill served with the Ketupat, Cucumber, Onion and flavourful home-made peanut sauce.
The Goreng Station will feature some of Malaysians favourite tea-time snacks like the Goreng Pisang, Cempedak Goreng, Keropok Lekor, Karipap, Ubi Keladi, Ubi Keledek and much more. Dishes served indoor at The Resort Café is not to be missed from Malay dishes like Sambal Udang with Petai, Perut Lembu Masak Air Assam, Kupang Masak Merah Berserai and Ayam Masak Ala Gajus, Steamboat on the buffet with 70 choice ingredients and two (2) types of broth served nightly with flavours on rotation, and also a variety of selections from the Chinese, Indian and Western spread.
Over at the Salad Tower, the main highlight will be traditional Ulam-ulaman offering an assortment of local picks like the Kacang Botol, Petai, Daun Selom and Jantung Pisang as well as pickled fruit (jeruk) which can be enjoyed with local dressings like Sambal Belacan, Cincaluk and Budu. Diners can also expect some Asian home-made dressings where each day sees a rotation of favourite Asian salads such as Ulam-ulam, Pasembur, Gado-gado, Miang Kham, Som Tam, Pecal Jawa and Rojak Buah taking the highlight, which will be served nightly on a rotational basis.

The dedicated Dessert Corner is a must stop for diners; especially for those with a sweet tooth where a wide range of local and western desserts is available, including trays of home-made Malay and Nyonya desserts; an assortment of agar-agar, pudding, tapai ubi, buah Melaka, lepat ubi, apam kelapa and bubur. Sarawak cake lapis will be featured on the buffet with its amazing layers and colours, an assortment of raya cookies with batang buruk, kuih siput, kuih bangkit, kuih rose, kuih karas, kuih semperit, kuih kapit, dodol; and favourites like kuih Bingka @ Bangkang like bingka ubi kayu, bingka labu, bingka roti, bingka pandan, bingka tepung and bingka kelapa.
