December 29, 2018 by StrawberrY Gal

The “Macao Light Festival 2018 – Time Travel in Macao” has attracted many residents and visitors since its launch on 2nd December, it has also been widely and positively covered by the media. In order to enable more residents and visitors to enjoy the illuminations and to prolong its compelling effect as a mega event, the Festival is extended to 20th January 2019 at some of the locations covered.

Considering the availability of venues, apart from St. Dominic’s Church, the Camões Garden, the Taipa Houses and the Taipa Municipal Market, other locations will continue to stage the “Macao Light Festival 2018 – Time Travel in Macao” from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. from 1st to 20th January 2019 (the last projection mapping show starts at 9:50 p.m. daily), while the Gastronomy Night Market at the square in front of Pak Tai Temple as well as the Cultural and Creative Night Market and the Outdoor Local Concert at Anim’Arte Nam Van are not to be extended. The projection mapping show produced by local team will continue to dazzle the Ruins of St. Paul’s, same as that named “Search for the Taste of Memory”, which will keep lighting up Pak Tai Temple.

The event organizer, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), highly values the results brought by the Macao Light Festival, with pertinent evaluations conducted every year. According to the statistics currently available, the Macao Light Festival 2018 has gained wide and relatively positive coverage in traditional media, social media and travel websites.

In addition, during the extended period of the Macao Light Festival, the “International Gastronomy Forum, Macao 2019” will be held from 19th to 21st January 2019. Part of the activities of the Forum will take place at Anim’Arte Nam Van, one of the locations covered by this Macao Light Festival. MGTO hopes to multiply the effects brought by the mega events, thus creating a brand new experience filled with light plus gastronomic elements for residents and visitors. At the same time, the Office aims to showcase the cross-field creativity of Macao as a Creative City of Gastronomy to the delegates from worldwide UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy taking part in the Forum, hence helping to transform Macao Light Festival into an international event.

“Macao Light Festival 2018 – Time Travel in Macao” is organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office, co-organized by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Sports Bureau. The Environmental Protection Bureau and Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) are supporting entities of the event.
