Sedap-nya @ The Starling: A taste of Peranakan

May 22, 2018 by StrawberrY Gal

It is kinda hard to find peranakan or nyonya dishes nowadays. And recently we found one which is at The Starling Mall by the name of Sedap-nya. Sedap-nya located at the Ground Floor of the mall just next to Starbucks Coffee offers you with delicious peranakan dishes with affordable price.

Walking into the restaurant brings me with the nostalgic feel where you can find the beautiful interior. The restaurant comes perfect to my likings especially many Instagram friendly spots with the antiques in the restaurant itself. As for the menu, they have quite wide choices of varieties to go for from their appetizers to noodles, set meal and also desserts.

Ah Yap Minced Meat Tofu (RM 18)
Try the velvety texture of tofu which definately will be your choice to go for. The tofu is perfectly done and every mouthful is just so delicious that it is well paired with the white rice. Topped with the minced meat on top makes it even better with a taste of home.

Signature Nyonya Fried Egg (RM 18)
Another simple dish which usually cooked by my Baba Nyonya Grandmother. It just reminds me about her when enjoying this dish. The homecook dish which not just delicious but also reminds me of many lovely moments with my grandmother.

Nyonya Seafood Pot (RM 38) ( 2 pax)
Not too spicy, the nyonya seafood pot comes with the generous portion of fish, prawns and calamari. The Seafood pot comes with not just generous portion but the flavours are good as well. The seafood pot is what I love where it is appetizing with the sour and light spiciness taste.

Signature Spicy Lime Steam Fish (RM 38)
Enjoy the awesomely done steam fish which is packed with the sour taste. Very appetizing! The fish is fresh as well. It is perfectly well paired with a bowl of rice.

Signature Vegetable Paku (RM 18)
Not forgetting some vegetables to accompany our meals of the day.

As for desserts, they have aplenty to choose from where one can enjoy the superbly delicious chendol to accompany. Nothing beats the nice shaves of ice completed with the fragrant gula melaka with the coconut milk on top. Perfect to ends our meal of the day.

For those who are looking for some Peranakan Nyonya delights in town, you can consider Sedap-nya which offers you delicious nyonya delight with affordable charges.
