Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin (ITB Berlin 2018)

March 3, 2018 by StrawberrY Gal

Tourism Selangor is proud to announce the Discover Selangor, #TakeMeAnywhere Campaign at the International Tourismus Borse (ITB) 2018 in Berlin, Germany. This promotional campaign ‘Discover Selangor, Take Me Anywhere’ aims to get even more tourists to experience the fun and enriching experiences in Selangor.

The accompanying ‘#TakeMeAnywhere’ is used as a slogan to strengthen the current promotional campaign, specifically indicating Selangor state as a hub for transportation, development, investment, business, education, medicine and others – where it all begins and centered in the Selangor state. Among the local authorities to organise District Visit Year in 2018 is Kuala Langat District, Selangor.

“District visit year guides local authorities to develop their respective districts as various attraction and informative Heritage places, tourist-friendly and convenient to visitors. Various programmes and tourism activities are planned and implemented according to the uniqueness and attraction of the respective districts.” said Madam Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din, The General Manager of Tourism Selangor.

Highlights of this year Discover Selangor campaign will be celebrating Visit Year for its districts, Kuala Langat, as one of the most developed states in Malaysia, Selangor has many historical and heritage places across the populous state.

Mah Meri Culture Village came to serve the community of Carey Island in the district of Kuala Langat; Selangor is a story of many people whose collective vision made it what it is today. It’s the story of young men and women who wanted to bring their Mah Meri cultural heritage back to life. It’s the story of community elders, community partners, who wanted to pass along their knowledge to the young, especially those in need of guidance. There also have other attractive activities to offers fror visitors during their visit to Kuala Langat.

These efforts more or less helped Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) to get publicity and make this program  as a way forward to plan, promote and develop heritage tourism in Kuala Langat systematically and strategically to increase number of tourist domestically and abroad as well as revenue from tourism industry.

“We have recorded 400,000 tourist from Europe countries last year and 7.431 Million tourist from all over the world and the number is increasing by 2.02% compared to previous year in 2016. We expect this year with 7.50 Millions of tourist and with an increase by 0.91% from previous year” says H.E. Madam Elizabeth Wong, Chairman of the Standing Committee for Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Consumer Affairs, Selangor.

With a combination of rich history and culture, hustling cities and scenic villages, modern infrastructure and gastronomic delights – Selangor is a destination of choice for local and international visitors. Selangor’s popularity among travelers is reflected in the increase of visitors in the past of few years.
