HEARTY MEALS FOR VOLUNTEERS CONSERVING THE CLIMATE

June 1, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

The passionate volunteers of Power Shift Malaysia were given a pleasant surprise by Kenny Rogers ROASTERS (KRR) in conjunction with KRR’s “22 Deliciously Healthy Years” anniversary initiative to reward the efforts of these unsung heroes!
Understanding the uphill battle and the passion of these youth to ensure a safe climate future, KRR contributed a total of 50 sets of Kenny’s Quarter Lite Meal to the participants who attended the Malaysian Youth Delegation (MYD) 2017 retreat organised by Power Shift Malaysia. The retreat held at The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus allowed participants to have a better understanding of MYD as a whole among other initiatives which included interactive sessions.

Ahmad Bin Ahad (left), Assistant Restaurant Manager of Kenny Rogers ROASTERS Metro Point Kajang
Thomas Lai Yoke Hwa, Program Coordinator of Malaysian Youth Delegation remarked, “Seeing Malaysian youths joining us on this journey with Power Shift Malaysia gives us the motivation to continue doing what we do, which is ensuring a safe climate future. We have shared our voice at various Climate Change Conferences namely Paris in 2015 and Marrakesh in 2016. With great supporters like KRR acknowledging us for our efforts, we are more than ecstatic than ever to work towards educating and empowering young citizens of the country on climate change, to establish a paradigm shift towards clean renewable energy resources for a sustainable future.”
Apart from Power Shift Malaysia, other charitable organisations that KRR have contributed meals to include EPIC, Teach For Malaysia, Malaysian Nature Society and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), MERCY Malaysia, Give.my and Hospis with more organisations scheduled.
The “22 Deliciously Healthy Years” anniversary initiative by KRR garnered more than 11,300 likes on KRR’s Facebook page. KRR pledged to contribute a meal for each 22 ‘likes’ received to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) which saw a fruitful outcome of over 500 meals.
