A renowned landmark with countless footprint and a place packed with numerous stories and success, Sungei Wang kicks off its 40th anniversary celebration with a new evolution!
New Brand New Logo
Opening a mall is not an easy task and continuously keeping a mall opened for 40 is definitely not a small feat and something that is well worth celebrating. Sungei Wang is a one of the pioneers in the shopping centre industry way back since 1977 and led the way for many trends and fashions before shopping centres mushroomed all around the Klang Valley. Now with the new, bigger and more modern competition all around the city, Sungei Wang strives on with a new evolution for the mall. The launch of “The New Evolution of Sungei Wang” was officiated by YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia together with Mr. Ng Yih Chen, Chairman of Sungei Wang Plaza Management Corporation and witnessed by many industry players. The new evolution started off with the unveiling of the new Sungei Wang logo. The new brand new logo embodies the spirit of Sungei Wang’s legacy yet reflects the transformation of the mall to cater for contemporary tastes. Not only that, a series of legacy and contemporary icons marks the various
achievements and new chapters of Sungei Wang in a fun and creative way.
“With the new logo and icons of Sungei Wang, it reflects the new Sungei Wang as modern and contemporary mall while sustaining our legacies and success. We want to reach out to the new and younger market and at the same time, not forget our loyal and regular customers.” says Mr Ng Yih
Chen, Chairman of Sungei Wang Plaza Management Corporation.
“Apart our new logo and icon, Sungei Wang will also be undergoing a physical make-over at ourb entrances and front to provide a brighter, warmer entrance welcoming customers to the mall. The renovation of the entrances will start off end of May and is in conjunction with the opening of the new Bukit Bintang MRT Station, situated just 500m away. This MRT Station is targeted to be operational in July and together with the current direct Sungei Wang Monorail Bridge, Sungei Wang will be one of the most accessible and connected mall via rail transport. Commuters from all corners of the Klang Valley will be able to reach Sungei Wang, traffic jam free for shopping and eating.” He added.
Guests at the launch of the New Evolution of Sungei Wang is also graced with live performance by IamNEETA, a renowned local celebrity.
The new evolution for Sungei Wang also includes enhancing connectivity with other malls. Currently Sungei Wang has a pedestrian bridge link with Lot 10 and Isetan that cuts above Jalan Sultan Ismail. This bridge is widely used by shoppers and connects both malls whether rain or shine. The linkages with Bukit Bintang Plaza will be renewed upon completion of the new mall. Currently, studies are being conducted to further improve the pedestrian connectivity of Sungei Wang with the surrounding malls. This initiative will be in line with Kuala Lumpur Tourism Master Plan to improve pedestrianisation efforts for the BBKLCC hub to allow shoppers and tourists alike to walk seamlessly without exposure to the weather.
