DISCOVER SELANGOR FLOTILLA MAGIC OF THE NIGHT 2016

June 8, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

The unique design of Tourism Selangor Flotilla has been inspired by the Retro style approach. Selangor rich in history, culture as well as Legends. Leading the Selangor flotilla, during the Magic Of The Night 2016 event, is our very own legend in Malaysian Football, SUPER MOKH in his most famous pose!

Played for Selangor from 1972 till 1990 and played for national team from 1972 until 1985! Drums used for moral support as well as cheering after a victorious win. Behind the drums are Centong Buluh, a bamboo stamping tube that the famous Mah Meri tribe of Pulau Carey used during their many interesting celebrations and festivals.

Flying proudly is the leaf origami bird by the Mah Meri tribe, renowned for their masterful leaf origami as well as wood carving. Thank you to the conservation and preservation, their population are increasing and they still practice the culture which is their belief towards their ancestors and spirit. Masks displayed are the Spirit of Kelolong and Mayang Lembu. These are produced by the Mah Meri tribe and these masks are as well sought for future generations. Bunga Tanjung also known as Spanish Cherry is the official flower of Selangor, the petals represents diversity and regional destinations and the red and yellow petals symbolise the official flag of Selangor. Relics of the past, the lighthouse, the oldest palace in Selangor, Palace Jugra and the Tok Bedil’s canons still stand proudly at Bukit Melawati, Kuala Selangor. These beautiful sights of Selangor are indeed worth to behold.

Tourism Selangor General Manager, Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din said, ”Tourism Selangor continuously promoting ‘Discover Selangor’, with the tagline ‘Heart of  Malaysia’ as a tourism promotional campaign for Selangor State Government. Selangor offers you a complete experience from outdoor adventures of rock climbing and white-water rafting to the scenic nature of jungle tracks and magnificentwaterfalls, the fun and excitement of glorious theme parks to sandy beaches along  coastal shores, from the terrific hours of non-stop shopping to the colourful diversity of people, cultures and backgrounds, and last but not least, the abundant choices of food from the multi-cultural influences, awaits anyone who cares to explore the beauty that is uniquely and truly Selangor”.

The Discover Selangor Flotilla won second in Most Creative flotilla category. Winning trophy was presented by Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Malaysian Minister of the Federal Territories to Puan Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din, General Manager of Tourism Selangor. The decorated flotilla parade started at 9 pm to 10 pm daily. Visitors has captured memories through photo opportunities with the wonderful floats up until 11 pm at the dock, during the Royal Floria Festival 2016, Putrajaya.
