Central’s popular meeting spot, the lively Captain’s Bar, just off the lobby of the hotel, is the perfect place for cocktails and draught beer at the end of the day. It is an institution in its own right, and for 50 years revellers have been enjoying the familiar surroundings of the bar from mid-morning into the early hours of the next day.
Famed for serving draught beer in silver tankards, Captain’s Bar is particularly favoured by the local community, where regulars receive their own tankard engraved with their name. To celebrate the hotel’s 50th Anniversary, the bar also launched an additional 25 new silver tankards with guest names on them and 25 silver martini glasses for guests to enjoy. Also available is a range of classic cocktails and an extensive wine list.
Guests of the Captain’s Bar can also indulge in a selection of curry Tiffin Tins at lunch and bar snacks nightly. The Captain’s Bar also welcomes new musical talents to entertain hotel guests and the local community alike, with evening live jazz and blues performances.
Captain’s Bar is open Monday to Saturday from 11am until 2am and on Sunday from 11am to 1am. Live performances take place Monday to Thursday between 9pm and 12.45am and on Fridays, Saturdays and public holiday eves from 9pm to 1.45am.
