XENRI FINE JAPANESE CUISINE @ OLD KLANG ROAD

January 8, 2015 By StrawberrY Gal - Food Review, Invited Review 1 Comment

XENRI

Located In Old Klang Road, Xenri Japanese Restaurant is famed for its Japanese cuisine. Upon entering, we were greeted with the burnished warmth of bamboo plants, wood lacquered floor, elegant brown tables that will calm your senses. Head to our seats, we indeed pleased to have a nice place with the serene sound of flowing water with the fish by the little man-made river.

The menu is comprehensive, encompassing both traditional as well as modern Japanese cuisine as well as the essential down to earth cuisine such as the teppanyaki sets and sushi. We are being recommended with their signatures there.

Started with the Wakame salad (RM 22.00) the fresh salad is served with the choice of goma dressing or wasabi dressing. Topped with the alfafa on top. I love the way it served with goma dressing which brings you a more appetizing and flavourful blend of temptations. It’s salad comes with the fresh seaweed which I would give a double thumbs up on this. Nice one

Comes next is the Sashimi Platter (Seasonal Price) . Our sashimi platter for 2 person comes with all the tip top fresh ingredients. This includes the Slamon, tuna belly, prawns, hotate , hirame as wekk as akagai fish with it. Served fresh with the beautiful cut of delights, the sashimi platter are served on top of the bed of ice with the freshly grated wasabi with it.

Moving next is the Chawanmushi (RM 12). It is kinda hard to get a good chawanmushi which really tempted me but in Xenri, they serves a good Chawanmushi. In Xenri, they have a variety of chawanmushi to be ordered such as the unai, ikura, kinoko, tobiko and more and what we have is their Signature Chawanmushi. The signature Chawanmushi is served with the moist texture of egg with it and generous ingredients such as the mushroom, prawns and chicken in it. I love the sweetness of the egg together with the smooth velvety texture of it

Another signature soup from the chef comes right at this moment where the bowl of Double Boiled Tuna Belly. The soup comes interestingly good with the blend of sweetness in it and it is very flavourful in it. The wholesome soup is boiled with the vegetable stock, together with the grilled tuna belly in it. It is then being double boiled for 15-20 minutes and you will be assured of the fragrant and yet tempting soup on your table.

Maguro Kama (Seasonal Price) which is the Tuna Jaw is another best seller here in Xenri. Looking at the appearance, it is indeed not appetizing though with the hint of fishy smell when it is served. We get it all wrong after one bite of the fish. The fish is definitely is a great one. The fish is prepared with the basic way where the tuna jaw is being grilled till perfectionist with salt and it is being served together with slices of ginger, grated radish as well as lemon with it. And in this month, they have a great promo this month at RM 80 only.

XENRI
As for the Hotate Mentaiyaki (RM 38.00) where the hotate is being served with the creamy cod fish roe sauce which it is added with egg yolk and lemon to bring the light zestiness in it. The overall taste comes rich to me.

XENRI
As for the Gindara Kama Nitsuki (Seasonal Price), they are being served with the steam cod fish together with chef’s signature soy sauce with it. The cod fish comes fresh and the meat is simply flaky. I love the way it is served. Awesome!

As for the Ishiyaki Wagyu (RM 220/110g); the wagyu tenderloin can be prepared in 4 ways ishiyaki, teriyaki, rikyuyaki or teppanyaki. We had our ishiyaki where we can taste the pure taste of the beef itself. The beef is being imported and it is being grilled on the hot stone with the heating gel below. Served together with the miso mira and shoyu with it. The meat comes simply moist and tender and it brings up the overall flavors of the meat.

Overall, there restaurant is indeed lovely and bringing you a great environment with the nice dining experience.
