AVENUE K’S KECHARA SOUP KITCHEN CAMPAIGN TO FEED THE LESS FORTUNATE

The fasting month and Raya festivities is a time of giving and what better way to get into the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood than to spare a little for those less fortunate every time you shop for a new outfit or feast on good food. Avenue K Shopping Mall takes shopping one step further beginning July onwards by donating a portion of sales to help the less fortunate.

Avenue K is honoured to pledge this contribution to The Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) in a mall-wide charity collection campaign ongoing till the year end in conjunction with the month of Ramadhan and Hari Raya festivities. A portion of sales from every tenant will be donated to Kechara in an effort to provide food and aid for the destitute and the

The Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) is a registered non-profit organization that serves the poor and destitute, regardless of race or religion. Their motto, Hunger Knows No Barriers extends to their volunteers who come from all walks of life, motivated by the common goal of helping others.Established in 2006, KSK feeds 10,000 hungry stomachs every month through their activities’ centers in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kuantan, Ipoh and Johor Bahru.

The Kechara Soup Kitchen does not just feed the poor and hungry,they feed hope. Their assistance includes counselling, identity card registration, seeking welfare aid, medical aid, job and home placements as well as reuniting lost ones with their families.

KSK’s tax exempt status granted by the Ministry of Finance allows all donations to receive a tax exempt receipt. All contributions are therefore tax deductible in recognition of their work and to support their fundraising efforts. Avenue K’s General Manager, Sue Wang announced, “The AK Kechara Campaign is the mall’s initiative to give back to our city and to bring its people together in a worthy cause.

Large Fuchsia donation boxes are installed throughout the mall and it would be wonderful if every shopper can donate generously during this campaign.
