OBANHMI, DAMANSARA UTAMA: THE VIETNAMESE BAGUETTE IS NOW HERE!

October 30, 2013 by StrawberrY Gal

One of the world’s most celebrated street food- Obanhmi arrived in Malaysia. The street food options for Malaysian who love the Vietnamese Baguette (Banh Mi), you should try to get a visit to  Obanhmi, a new eatery place opened in Damansara Uptown, Petaling Jaya, and it was just next to the famous landmark The Ship restaurant. The restaurant set up by three young ambitious Vietnamese, Daniel, Chris, and Ann.

Chris explained that the reason why they setup Obanhmi in Malaysia because Malaysia is a food heaven, we have all kinds of cuisines around and Malaysians like trying out new things. Besides, communication had never been a barrier and most of all we love to eat. This really surprise him, as he said that this doesn’t happen in Vietnam.

Chris said that he actually resigned from his work and went to learn from a local supplier for few months before starting the business in Malaysia. Not only learning how to make the daily baked fresh baguette, Chris prepared the pate, mayo, and pickled veggie (radish and carrot) himself too.

O Sunny, is what we started with. The huge sandwich with the authentic taste combining the pates, mayonaise, pickled raddish and carrots, chilli, cilantro and lemon grass chicken. It is added with the sunny egg on top. We are just too full with just one of the delicious sandwich.

O BBQ comes with fresh baguette sandwiched with BBQ pork, sunny side-up egg, homemade mayonaise, Vietnamese chilli sauce, pickled carrots and daikon. Bringing the extra smooky taste of the BBQ pork, I love it so much and every mouthful is so awesome.

Price:RM 8.20

If you love to have some warm soup to warm up the tummy, try the Stew O. Stew O is well prepared and giving us the baguette serve with beef stew soup prepared in authentic Vietnamese style. Hot soup with the beef chunks with it is just superb and the soup is simply flavorful.

Price:RM 9.00

We end our meals with another Vietnamese snacks-O Rolly. The fried spring roll which is well wrapped with the minced pork, mushroom, shredded carrots and mung bean noodles in rice paper ans deep fried to golden brown. Deliciously done with the crispiness in it and it goes well with their homemade chilly sauce.

Price: RM 7.00

Vnmese Iced Lemon Tea (RM3.50)
