Green View Seafood and the Legendary Sanghar Noodles of Petaling Jaya

July 4, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

In the heart of Section 19 lies a culinary landmark that has stood the test of time. For over 32 years, Green View Seafood Restaurant has carved out a legendary reputation as one of Malaysia’s premier seafood destinations. Its crown jewel? The iconic Sanghar Noodles—a dish so well-regarded that many food enthusiasts consider it the best in the country.

This legacy dish is the result of decades of dedication to quality, technique, and fresh ingredients. Unlike many modern renditions, Green View’s version features only the highest-grade U2 and U3 freshwater prawns, known for their rich prawn roe, or what fans affectionately refer to as “head butter.” These prawns are cooked to perfection and served atop a bed of crispy fried egg noodles, which are then drenched in a luxurious gravy made from the prawn heads and shells. The result is a dish that is both bold and comforting, brimming with the deep, briny essence of the sea and balanced by the crisp texture of the noodles beneath.

Green View doesn’t stop at the classic. In response to evolving palates and culinary curiosity, the restaurant has introduced two creative variations: the Fire Moutai Sanghar Noodles, flambéed at the table with aromatic Moutai liquor for dramatic flair and layered complexity, and the Mala Sanghar Ramen, a bold interpretation infused with the numbing spice of Sichuan peppercorns, bringing a modern, fiery twist to tradition.

 Baked Crab

Their Baked Crab are superbly delicious and we are defiantely wow when is served on the table ! From the moment it hits the table — golden, aromatic, and generously portioned — you just know you’re in for something special. The crab is perfectly baked to lock in all that natural sweetness, with every bite bursting with juicy, succulent flavour.

House Special Honey Squid

The meal begins with a house special honey squid—a sweet, crisp appetizer that awakens the appetite—followed by the customer’s choice of Sanghar-style noodles. The feast continues with a whole Indonesian crab, barbequed and wok-fried with a blend of three traditional Chinese wines, imparting the dish with a rich, heady aroma and depth of flavour that only comes from expert technique and premium ingredients.

Yuan Yang Kai Lan

Vegetable lovers will appreciate the twin-style preparation of Yuan Yang Kai Lan, where one portion is blanched to preserve its natural crunch and another is deep-fried for a playful contrast.

King Du Long Ribs

For meat, diners may choose between the Prosperity Herbal Chicken, which is gently steamed with nourishing Chinese herbs, or the indulgent King Du Long Ribs—fatty, tender, and braised in a rich glaze that melts in the mouth.

Mango Pomelo Sago

The meal ends on a sweet, refreshing note with a chilled serving of Mango Pomelo Sago, made fresh in-house using ripe mango purée and juicy pomelo sacs.

Complemented by a pot of premium Chinese tea and free-flow fragrant rice, this set menu is not only a celebration of seafood but a celebration of dining itself—where each dish tells a story of time-honoured techniques, cultural influences, and heartfelt hospitality.

Green View Seafood Restaurant is more than just a place to eat; it’s a dining institution beloved by families, friends, and foodies from near and far. It’s where generations have come together to celebrate birthdays, business wins, and festive seasons over dishes prepared with skill and sincerity. The restaurant also boasts an impressive live seafood offering, including the prized Alaskan King Crab, which is available for RM888 per kilogram and prepared in various styles upon request.

Despite its popularity, Green View has never strayed from its roots. It remains family-friendly, unpretentious, and welcoming to all—whether you’re a first-time visitor or a loyal regular returning for your favourite prawn noodles. Its spacious dining area, attentive service, and consistently high standards have made it a trusted name in Malaysian Chinese cuisine.
