Homecoming Reunion Joy To Celebrate Chinese New Year at Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre Hotel & Residences

January 20, 2022 by StrawberrY Gal

Chinese New Year is a time for family members returning home whether from overseas or from interstate, to have a reunion meal together, especially pertinent now after the movement restriction orders (MCO) were lifted, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

From 15 January to 15 February 2022, Pullman KLCC Hotel & Residences have launched a variety of options to help families and couples gather together once again as is the usual tradition and to celebrate Chinese New Year this year with delicious Reunion Meals.

Our menu caters from the must-have Chinese Set menus, to takeaway options, to fortune gift baskets and CNY themed cupcakes, to cater for everyone’s enjoyment of this important festival. A Chinese garden will be built at the hotel lobby featuring a Pagoda and a Golden Coins Tree to bring prosperity for the great year ahead in welcoming the year of the Tiger.

With the recent arrival of our new Chinese Head Chef, David Poh at Red Chinese Cuisine, he has created an interesting fusion based menu to suit guests’ expectations.

South African Abalone, Soft Shell Crabs and Passion Fruit Yee Sang

We started off with the toss of prosperity. This is of course enjoying the wholesome yee sang where we have the South African Abalone served together with the softshell crabs and Passion Fruit Yee Sang. They are indeed delicious and every mouthful is so tempting and blessed with good luck.

Braised Winter Melon Soup with Seafood and Baby Abalone

Next we have the hearty bowl of soup. The double boiled soup comes soothing and comes with the healthy elements. They are completed with the Seafood in it as well as a Baby Abalone.

Oven Baked Five Spice Chicken Roulade topped With Szechuan Crumble, Shimeji Mushrooms

As for the Five Spice Chicken Roulade, they are perfectly marinated with the five spices for hours and then they are baked till perfection. Finally, it is topped with the Szechuan Crumble and sides with the Shimeji mushroom by the side.

Hong Kong Style Steamed Dragon Grouper in Soy King Sauce

The hearty and yet delicious steamed grouper is indeed a perfect indulgence. The grouper is perfectly steamed and it brings you with the delectable touch of goodness in it. The meat is superbly good where it remains flaky and juicy.

Slow Steamed Prawns with Bentong Ginger and Truffle Egg White

One can enjoy the awesome prawns which is beautifully steamed. They are steamed with the truffle egg white and then it is topped with the gratted bentong ginger on top. I love the aromatic taste and the pungent hint of garlic in it and it is definitely well paired with their truffle egg white.

Jade Abalone and Vegetables Wrapped with Lotus Leaf Golden Crab Sauce topped with Crispy Dried Scallop

One can enjoy their Jade Abalone and Vegetable which is served with their Lotus Leaf Golden Crab Sauce. It is then topped with the crispy dried scallop to bring up the overall taste of it.

Shanghainese Style Fried Rice with Waxed Duck Meat, Pickled Vegetables and Chicken Floss

Before some sweet ending, we had the Shanghainese Style Fried Rice that is served together with the Waxed Duck Meat, together with the Pickled Vegetables and topped with the chicken floss on top. Delicious!

Almond Pudding with Peach Gum, Glutinous Rice Balls, and Osmanthus Brown Sugar.

Steamed Nian Gao with White Sesame and Peanut Crumble.

And of course, we ends the delighting meal with some sweet delicacies.

This year, Chef David introduces a Chinese fine dining menu from RM330 per person, a minimum order of 5 persons or the reunion set menus of RM1,888, RM2,288 and RM2,588 per table of 10 persons. Each set menu is available for lunch and dinner and also caters for smaller families in a table for 5 persons.

Toss to Prosperity and Good Health with four types of Yee Sang, from a luxurious 10-head abalone to sea asparagus to smoked duck breast and crispy salted egg fish skin, which you can enjoy with truffle plum sauce and other flavours of your choice. Available in whole and half portions, guests can also top up supplemental orders to get the Yee Sang rise as high as a mountain. In Chinese customs, the higher the Yee Sang, the better luck it will bring for a prosperous year ahead.

For those who prefer to dine at home, Pullman KLCC Hotel & Residences also offers takeaways  with some great options on customary lucky Chinese New Year foods, that are said to help bring good fortune – Abundance Poon Choy (RM388, serving for 4 persons and RM888, serving for 10 persons), Seafood Boat (RM288 per boat, serving for 4 to 6 persons), 4 Hot & Cold Combination (RM188 per set, serving from 4 to 6 person) and 5 Hot & Cold Combination (RM228 per set, serving from 4 to 6 persons), Reunion Waxed Meat Rice (RM120 per portion, serving for 6 to 8 persons) and Prosperity Chicken (RM88 per bird).

Red Chinese Cuisine also serves CNY à la carte dishes including dim sum throughout the period. Guests are still able to enjoy our popular Dim Sum Brunch on weekends and public holidays.

Besides Chinese set menus and dishes at Red Chinese Cuisine, buffet is another alternative for guests to celebrate the CNY festive season. Our chefs at Sedap Restaurant put together a CNY-themed dinner buffet for families who prefer a variety of CNY themed auspicious food such as Steamed Fish with Sea Moss, Wok-fried Prawns, Wok-fried Noodles and the must-have Yee Sang Toss, also served at the buffet spread. The buffet dinner is available for 3 days from the eve, as well as the first and second day of Chinese New Year 2022 – from 31 January to 2 February 2022, 6:30pm to 10pm. RM158 per adult, RM79 per child (6 – 12 years old). Children below 6 years old dine for free.

Sending festive gifts are also a good idea to appreciate someone and to send them best wishes for the season. It means a lot to the person who receives it. Our Pastry team have created a series of goodies that are made in-house with no compromise on quality. Suitable gifts for the season are our CNY Gift Basket giveaways, which symbolizes a prosperous year ahead to those who receive them. We present the Fortune Gift Basket with 3 prices from RM188 per basket, RM238 per basket with a bottle of wine Penfolds Shiraz Cabernet (375ml) and RM288 per basket with a bottle of champagne Taittinger Brut Reserve (375ml).

Other CNY-themed pastries that are available include Fortune Cake, Koi Fish-shaped White Chocolate (400g each) with a flavour of wolfberry and mandarin orange, Chocolate Kumquat Cupcakes and CNY cookies and biscuits.
