SAVOUR THE ‘ICHIBAN’ EASTERN DELIGHTS AT CAFE

August 5, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

This September and October, Cafe’s culinary team has created a series of “ichiban” eastern delights, offering diners a sumptuous list of delicacies inspired by Japan, available on a rotating basis during the dinner buffet.

This wonderful feast begins with the tempting appetisers, such as the refreshing seafood with tobiko roe salad, or the sake grapefruit tomato jelly; alternatively diners may sample the sizzling appetisers, including the beef tataki or the braised eggplant with miso sauce.  Do not miss the cold soba noodle station, for which our chefs have thoughtfully sourced a range of soba noodles from different parts of Japan filled with flavours to please your palate, such as plum, green tea, somen and egg soba, complimented by a range of condiments.

The chef’s special recommendations are the alluring made-to-order foie gras maki roll; as well as the baked lobster with miso sauce and the miso cod – both of which are freshly prepared on the grill and perfect for seafood-lovers.  What’s more? Our chefs have taken an authentic, fusion approach to create two types of pizza: Hokkaido-style lobster and mushroom Okonomiyaki which is an egg pancake filled with delicious ingredients and often referred to as “Japanese Pizza”, while the seafood pizza is an authentic Italian pizza topped with eel and an array of seafood infused with teriyaki and thousand island sauce, creating a one-of-a-kind gourmet experience.

A dinner buffet would not be complete without an assortment of sweet temptations.  Sample the aromatic sakura jelly or the flavourful chestnut yokan pudding and rice ice-cream.  Other creations include sweet dumplings – dango with sesame or red bean; glutinous rice cake – daifuku mochi with matcha or tiramisu; or the colourful red bean with assorted mini daifuku.  Last but not least, our bartender has created two fantastic Japanese-inspired mini mocktails – Matcha Shake and Yuzu Mojito, the former of which is a matcha milk tea with red bean paste from Japan; while the latter is a yuzu slushy infused by mint leaves.

Aside from the eastern delights, the all-day restaurant Cafe also serves an impressive range of freshly made delicacies from different live cooking stations. It includes a variety of sushi and sashimi, teppanyaki, tempura, ramen and udon from the Japanese kitchen; a fine selection of grilled seafood and meats, fresh pastas and pizzas from the Western kitchen; authentic curries and fresh naan breads from the Indian kitchen and an array of cold cuts, seafood on ice, as well as homemade desserts.
