Celebrate Mid-Autumn with Tao Chinese Cuisine’s Orient Lustre Series

August 27, 2019 by StrawberrY Gal

Time to gather around and enjoy a nice meal with your family and friends together with these awesome mooncakes by your side. And this year, Tao’s Chinese Cuisine’s Master Dim Sum Chef, Chef Lo Tian Sion and his team unveil their mooncake curations this year themed Orient Lustre.

The series blends classics with fresh modernity, featuring a range of baked mooncakes and delicately crafted snow skin mooncakes, presented in a classic elegant packaging.

And this year, one can have the series mooncakes and enjoy this year chef’s signatures which includes the – Almond Baked Skin, Pandan, Cream Cheese Salted Yolk and Chestnut Mooncake which is designed in a beautiful flower shape. Different than the usual flour-based baked skin mooncake, this lusciously crafted piece uses almond bulbs as its skin as a healthier option since almond is high in fibre, it prevents the blood sugar level from sudden spiking unwantedly.

While the signature is innovating, those who enjoy the classic flavours can indulge in the all-time favourites such as Red Bean Paste with Nuts, Traditional Mixed Nuts, Pure White Lotus Paste with Nuts or the Golden Jade with Single Yolk. And their mooncake are tonned down on the sweetness as we know many would love their mooncake less in sweetness too.

Another signature Durian Snow Skin Mooncake with Salted Caramel Chocolate is also back by popular demand. Guests can expect a burst of rich durian flavours when they bite into the pastry. With such a medley of King of the Fruit and chocolate, every bite is a pleasant contrast.

Another extravagant snow skin gem is Butterfly Pea Flower Snow Skin with Bird’s Nest. This blue precious is a must-try for those who appreciate collagens. Both of these Durian and Bird’s Nest snow skin mooncakes were crowd’s favourites of 2017 and 2018.

Be sure to try out Chef Lo’s new flavours – Green Tea Paste with Tiramisu, and Pomegranate Snow Skin with Teo Chew YamvPaste and Single Yolk as both are beautifully crafted and the combinations are match made in heaven.

Another mooncake collection taking the centre stage this year is the animal-design Kids Mooncake Set presented in an adorable Beebbackpack. There are four types of mooncakes, Cherry Jelly with Red Bean Paste, Chocolate and Raisin, Green Bean with Chocolate Chip and Custard with Oreo. Priced at RM 80nett per set, these mooncakes are fully handmade and absolutely fun to look at before tasting them.

The Orient Lustre series is available from 22 July to 13 September 2019 at the hotel’s lobby from 11.00am to 8.00pm daily and Tao Chinese Cuisine from 11.30am to 2.30pm and 6.30pm to 10.30pm. Baked skin varieties are priced from RM 30nett per piece and snow skin mooncakes are from RM 32nett per piece.

Purchases made before 10 August 2019 are entitled for a 25% off a box of four mooncakes, not applicable for Kids Mooncake. Gourmet Collection members get 25% off, IHG Rewards Club member enjoy 20% off while CitiBank, CIMB Bank, Maybank, HSBC Bank and UOB Bank card holders get a 15% off with a minimum purchase of one box of mooncake and 10% off on the Kids Mooncake Set.
