With the long-term wellbeing of the environment in mind, Sunway Velocity Mall recently organized a “Re-Thinking Plastic for a Sustainable Future” Campaign.
In close collaboration with DBKL, the said campaign was curated as part of our long-term efforts to spread awareness to our shoppers on the importance of reducing the usage of regular plastic and plastic bags. Concurrently, the campaign also served as a platform for DBKL to educate our valued business partners and tenants on the mandatory conversion from regular to certified bio-degradable plastic bags.
The main campaign highlight was a Re-Thinking Plastic 2018 Redemption that ran from June 4th till July 8th. Here, shoppers who spent a minimum of RM20 in any outlets that had already switched to certified bio-degradable plastic bags or paper bags were given a free stamp card to collect stamps when they shopped in exchange for a free gift.
Shoppers were able to redeem their gifts during the Re-Thinking Plastic Weekend 2018 held from July 7-8 between 11.00am to 6.00pm at the mall’s V Boulevard area on Level 1.
Another key activity that took place on July 7 was a special interactive and educational talk for the mall’s tenants conducted by DBKL’s official partner and certified bio-degradable plastic bag vendor. The said session enjoyed an encouraging response with some 50-60 guests in attendance representing the numerous outlets in Sunway Velocity Mall.
In conjunction with the campaign as well, a Re-Thinking Plastic Online Video Contest was held from 30 April to 17 June to add a fun and interactive element to the whole campaign. The Top 5 contest winners received their prizes on the same day as well.
The festivities didn’t stop there just yet as shoppers were treated to a bunch of energetic green-themed performances along with free environment-related workshops in partnership with WWF-Malaysia and UCSI over the two day duration.
