The new LRT Kelana Jaya Line Extension Project (LEP), which hosted an Emergency Response Plan (ERP) exercise today at Subang Alam Station as part of its pre-opening activity, is well on-track and will be opening for operations on June 30.

“We are now at the final phase of construction works with more emphasis of testing, touch-up works and cleaning. The team is working hard to ensure for all system go and opening as schedule. I am happy to note that all works are progressing well including today’s ERP exercise.
“We have carried out the ERP exercise as part of requirement set up the governing authority for public transport, SPAD. It is to test the preparedness of our operations team and the readiness of the system and facilities.
“The emergency exercise allows us to validate the existing emergency plans, programs, policies, roles and responsibilities. It also served as training for staff in testing their capabilities, identify deficiencies, if any, and to familiarize the participants especially the external parties with plans and procedures as well the facilities,” says Dato’ Ir. Zohari Sulaiman, the CEO of Prasarana Rail and Infrastructure Projects Sdn Bhd (PRAISE), which is managing the LEP that included extension of the LRT Ampang Line as well.
Covering a distance of 17.4km, the Kelana Jaya Line extension starts from Kelana Jaya station and pass through 12 new stations, including Ara Damansara, Subang Jaya and USJ before ending at Putra Heights, which is an integrated station with the extended Ampang Line.

Apart from Subang Alam and the integrated Putra Height stations, the other stations under the Kelana Jaya Line Extension Project are Lembah Subang, Ara Damansara, Glenmarie, Subang Jaya, SS 15, SS 18, USJ 7, Taipan, Wawasan, USJ21 and Alam Megah.
The new Kelana Jaya extended line is connected to the KTM Komuter network at Subang Jaya station and the Bus Rapid Transit – Sunway Line at USJ 7 Station, providing seamless travel and excellent connectivity for public transport commuters.
With the extended network, the Kelana Jaya LRT alignment will run for a total length of 46.4km; covering key commercial and highly-populated residential areas like Petaling Jaya, Bangsar, Gombak, Taman Melati, Setiawangsa and Kuala Lumpur’s Central Business District.
The Kelana Jaya Line Extension will begin from Kelana Jaya station and pass through 13 new stations, including Ara Damansara, Subang Jaya and USJ before ending at Putra Heights Integrated Station, covering a distance of 17.4km. Total length of the Kelana Jaya Line upon completion of the LRT will be 46.4km.
Commencing at 11am and held under close supervision of SPAD officials, Rapid Rail was joined by officials from the Fire Department, police, hospital and Shah Alam City Council in the two-hour ERP exercise.
Ran under a scenario of a train’s brake failure and a resulting fire under the train, six passengers were injured including one with serious injuries. Assistance was sought from the Emergency Response Agencies (ERA) assistance for the rescue mission. While waiting for the ERA to arrive, station staff and a team of Auxiliary Police supervised the evacuation of the passengers to Station 12 through the walkway in a calmly manner.
The Ampang Line Extension, on the other hand, starts from Sri Petaling Station, which is part of the Sri Petaling Line, and passes through Kinrara, Puchong, and ends at Putra Heights. The extension is 18.1km long with 11 new stations. Combined with the existing line, the total length of Ampang Line (including the Sri Petaling Line) after the completion of the LRT Line Extension Project will be 45.1km.
