TEN JAPANESE FINE DINING RESTAURANT, MARC RESIDENCE: A HEAVENLY JAPANESE TEMPTATIONS FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR

January 29, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

The award-winning Ten Japanese Fine Dining restaurant from Australia has arrived in KL for quite sometime. The exquisite Japanese Restaurant is located at the Marc Residence which is just nearby KLCC. Strategically tucked in the lifestyle-oriented residences along Jalan Pinang, TEN is definitely a great place for a great Japanese cuisine.

– The Chef-

The cosy place is well decorated with the earthy look, romantic table dressing and automated door. Beautifully done, with the warm lighting had added to the ambiance for the night. We are lucky enough to have our Chinese new year menu as well as their lunch menu for this round.

We started with their Yu Sheng where they have 2 types of portion where you can have for 2-3 person at RM 78.00 or 4-5 person set which is at RM128. With the generous portion of ingredients which include radish, carrot, pomelo, spring onions, chinese parsley, kaiso seaweed as well as the Japanese yam, pumpkin and deep fried spring rolls. Comes together with it will be 3 types of the raw fish which includes the akami, king salmon and white fish. The Yu Sheng is topped with the sweet plum sauce as well as the extra olive oil in it. The Japanese lime ( Sukaji) is being squeezed on top together with the some Japanese pepper on top. The Yu Sheng is simply fresh and special where they are not using the normal crackers like many restaurant did, the chef make a twist with the deep fried spring roll skin instead. Leaving a flavorful taste and texture, the yu sheng is amazingly lovely with the cuka ikuro which is added into the yu sheng. The yu sheng is flavorful and not too much of sauce on top, leaving the chewy bites of the yu sheng with the squids and salmon. Everything is so fresh where we have no complain on the yu sheng itself.

Boiled Abalone Sashimi Style (RM 108)

The fresh abalone

We also had the Boiled Abalone Sashimi Style (RM 108) . The fresh huge Australian Abalone is being braised and it is then being sizzle together with the soya and mirin with it. After that, the abalone is being braised again for half an hour. The freshly cut abalone is sinfully delicious where each bites brings us a chewy and fragrant taste of the abalone itself, no fishy smell at all and we have the abalone liver too which is good.

Shimmered Shark’s Fin with Truffle Butter Sticky Sauce (RM 128) is a dish where chef used a total of 5 hours to prepare the delights. The sharkfin is prepared added with the truffle and butter sauce combined together with the sharkfin, the taste is sinfully good. It is added with the enoki mushroom and surikani ( crabmeat). The soup brings us a flavorful blend where each mouthful of the soup is filled with the generous portion of the sharkfin.

The Chinese New Year promotion is available till 7th February 2014. You can have both the Shark fin and Abalone dishes with only RM 218

We also tried their lunch menu too. One of the item we had is the Salmon Zuke Don (RM35.00) . The king salmon and ikura is served ontop of a bed of rice, shredded egg strings and seaweed. The salmon was prepared with almost perfection and carries a hint of sweetness that balanced well with the rice and the ikura. Not only that, the amount of salmon given was almost as much as the rice and I am totally indulge with the Salmon Zuke Don without holding back. The lunch menu comes with a bowl soup which is savory too.

We ended with a bowl of Curry Udon (RM32.00). Silky and smooth udon which is filled with the creamy fragant curry is perfect to warm our tummy at these cold weather. Not only that, the udon is served with the generous amount of chicken meat with it. It is then being topped with the half boiled egg which makes the curry thicker and much flavorful. Delicious.
