SOI THAI, DESA PARK CITY

September 19, 2012 by StrawberrY Gal

A decent and lovely place for a sweet meal with family and friends, Soi Thai Restaurant is one of the choices to go for. The restaurant is well located at the Waterfront, Desa Park City. The restaurant is simply a great place with the simple classy decor and the design is not too fancy. The restaurant is located at the first floor at the mall itself. We are being served for the temptating Thai Cuisines for the day and here comes our meals.

– The Environment –

I am just loving the cute elephants in the restaurant

Green Papaya Salad with Dried Shrimp and Peanuts is one of the light appetizers which starts of our meals in most Thai restaurant. The taste of sourish taste of it with the crispy peanuts is good to have before we move to the mains. The dish also brings a slight spiciness on it due to the chilly padi which is added in to it.
Price: RM 11.50

Soi Thai’s special Otak-Otak is one of the speciality of the restaurant. The otak otak are serves in a plate of threes and it is being steamed till perfection to be served to us. The otak otak is very rich and the texture is smooth as well.
Price: RM 17.50

Soi Thai Combo is some delights which is worth to try where you can enjoy the whole set of platter in one plate. Here you goes with the pandan chicken, fish cake, thai wantan and croquette platter all in one plate to be served to you. The delighting dish where its served all in one. For me, I love the pandan chicken which is well wrapped at the pandan absorbed well in to the chicken itself.
Price: RM 22.00

The Signature Fire Pot with Seafood Tom yam is one of my favorites here in Soi Thai where the spicy tomyam is well cooked with the natural ingridients and herbs. The tomyam is well done with the fresh ingridients and also its home made herbs. I am falling in love with it which I will come back for more tomyam where the soup base is quite spicy too. However, it is on my likings as well.
Price: RM 39.90 (4-5 person)

Besides the Fire Pot Seafood Tomyam, we also get to sample Spicy Clear Tomyam Sou with seafood and Thai Herbs. The flavor is more to sourish and it is less spicy compare to the red tomyam which is being served. The ingridients are very fresh as well and it is worth to get a try of it.

Besides that, we had the delighting Thai Green Curry Chicken is savory too. The sliced chicken which is infused with the thick creamy thai curry is making my tummy drolling and it taste good . I am just loving the delights when it is being mixed together with the hot steamy Thai rice together with it.
Price: RM 13.50 (chicken)/ RM 11.50 ( Mixed Vegetables) / RM16.50 (Beef)

We also had the Steamed Siakap with Lime and Chili Sauce which is a dish which is appetizing to me. I am loving the sourish taste of the soup and the lime with it where the whole delights cater a slight spiciness with it too. The dish overall brings a amazing taste of spiciness which I love the most.
Price: RM 39.90

The Thai Red Curry is also savory with the thick santan brooth whcih is being cooked together with a plentiful of chicken with it and also some brinjals. The taste is not very spicy and brings a taste of thick santan taste but overall it is good to serves with rice.
Price: RM 13.50

– Roasted Duck with the Crispy Fried Bihun-

Roasted Duck with the Crispy Fried Bihun is one of the chef’sspecialitist and recomendation by the chef. This is where the crispy texture of the skin and tender meat is being served with the special sauce with it. The duck meat is then being layed on top of the deep fried crispy bihun.
Price: RM 16.50

For Beef lovers, you may grab the taste of the sizzling beef with the black pepper sauce where the beef is being marinate and it is stur fried together with the cauliflower, long beans, carrots and stripes of can corns. The beef is well marinated and being stir fried where the meat is tender and juicy as well.
Price: RM 14.50

Stir Fried Baby Kailan with Salted Fish is nothing special to shout about as it is just a normal vegetables which is being stir fried.
Price: RM 12.50

The stir fried kangkung with belachan serves good too. The dish with the fresh young kangkung leafs serves the right portions and it is well stir fried together with the belachan. The portion is not too salty as well.
Price: RM 10.50

For those who prefer something light, it will be a good choice to try the Phad Thai Noodle with Prawns Wrapped with the Omelete. I could say, this is the Thai Char Koay Teow so called. This is where the rice noodles are being stir-fried with egg, fish sauce, red chilly pepper, tamarind juice and added with the beansprout, shrimps and tofu with it. It is then being garnished with the Thai condiments which includes crushed peanuts, garlics , chives and a slight chili powder on it. The dish is also not spicy and it can be shared with friends.
Price: RM 14.00

After the spicy meal, we filled our tummy with the sweet delights. Water Chesnuts and Jackfruit in Coconut Milk will be some specialities not to be missed in a Thai restaurant. The shaved ice served with the coconut milk, slices of jack fruits and the waterchessnuts is lovely. The combination with not too sweet.
Price:

A must-try classic Thai desserts will be the Mango Stick Rice. This is where the glutinous rice which is being clumps together and it is being served with the sweet mangoes is indeed an well blend desserts. The not too sweet dish which accompany everyone’s tummy after the spicy meal.

Sweet Pumpkin with Coconut Milk is not a much my favorite as I am not a lover of pumpkin though. It is sweet too me and with the coconut milk with it, the feeling is slightly too full for my tummy though.

Steamed Sweet Banana Topped with Vanila Ice Cream is where the bananas are being steamed and it is then being topped with the coconut milk on top. It is served with the scope of ice cream as well.
