MESRA Introduces Debonairs Pizza & Steers to Malaysia

December 10, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

Mesra Retail & Café Sdn Bhd (MESRA), the retail and convenience arm of PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB), today celebrated a major milestone with the official launch of Malaysia’s first Debonairs Pizza and Steers restaurant at the PETRONAS Station Seksyen 9, Bandar Baru Bangi. This milestone marks MESRA’s debut in the food and beverage sector, bringing globally inspired, dining experiences tailored for Malaysian tastes.

The new outlet introduces two iconic South African brands:

● Debonairs Pizza, renowned for its innovative Triple-Decker® and Crammed-Crust pizzas, and

● Steers, famous for flame-grilled burgers, hand-cut chips, and bold flavors. Both menus have been thoughtfully localized, featuring Malaysian-inspiredmtoppings and flavors to delight local palates.

“Today marks a pivotal moment for MESRA as we broaden our non-fuel portfolio by introducing Debonairs Pizza and Steers. We are bringing Malaysians greater choice, exciting flavours, and accessible global favourites with a dining experience tailored to local tastes,” said Ian Cruddas, Chief Executive Officer of Mesra Retail & Cafe Sdn. Bhd.

The opening follows the signing of master licence agreements granting MESRA exclusive rights to develop Debonairs Pizza and Steers restaurants in Malaysia. Famous Brands brings decades of franchise leadership and operational excellence, while MESRA contributes local insights, such as the capacity to localise menus, supply chains and customer experiences for the Malaysian market.

The flagship Bangi outlet was chosen for its vibrant community and demand for family-friendly dining, offering dine-in and takeaway. Building on this success, MESRA will expand with additional outlets across Klang Valley in 2026, bringing the experience to more communities nationwide.

A commemorative group moment featuring Mr. Philip Smith, Managing Director, AME, Famous Brands; En. Norazlan Subaha, Head of Retail Fuel Division, PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad; Pn. Azureen Azita Bt Abdullah, COO, PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad; Mr. Darren Hele, CEO, Famous Pizza in Malaysia.

Guests, media and partners attended the grand opening event for an exclusive first taste of the menu and a preview of MESRA’s vision to expand both brands nationwide.

Visit us today at PETRONAS Station Seksyen 9, Bandar Baru Bangi, and experience the best of Debonairs Pizza and Steers!
