GLENEAGLES KUALA LUMPUR LAUNCHES HEALTHY FINE DINING COOKBOOK

October 1, 2013 by StrawberrY Gal

PLEASURE
Forget the old chestnut about too many cooks spoiling the broth when more than 20 local and foreign chefs from top restaurants in the country toiled hard in their kitchens to create healthy mouth-watering recipes for Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur’s (GKL) ‘Pleasure’ cookbook.

PLEASURE
With 80 recipes covering both local and international cuisine including Malay, Chinese, Indian, Japanese and Western dishes, this covetable recipe book offers the incentive to cook healthy and flavoursome fine dining meals for families in the comfort of their own homes.

All recipes had to get the stamp of approval from GKL’s Chief Dietician Lim Ai Leng, who carefully vetted each of the recipes including the ingredients and caloric contents of each dish. The book also contains a healthy eating guide.

PLEASURE
Working with 20 top restaurants in the country, GKL asked the kitchens to contribute four recipes each covering the different food groups that were separated into the following categories: salads and vegetables, noodles and grains, seafood and meat, and dessert.

Priced at RM 129 each, the ‘Pleasure’ healthy fine dining recipe book is available at the hospital and all major bookstores.

PLEASURE
Congratulating the team and chefs who worked on the healthy fine dining book, Regional Chief Executive Officer of Gleneagles Hospitals and Chief Executive Officer Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur Amir Firdaus Abdullah said the hospital was truly excited to share ‘Pleasure’ with the public.

“As Malaysians, food-related activities are by far the nation’s favourite pastime. However, that difficult balance of ‘taste’ versus ‘health’ is an everyday challenge as we try to please both our senses and our bodily systems. It was with this in mind that GKL decided to come up with its own food guide, aptly titled ‘Pleasure’.

“The book is the culmination of painstaking and rigorous selection process of the recipes, cooking, and tasting over the past nine months. We hope ‘Pleasure’ inspires everyone to create delicious yet healthy gastronomic delights in their own homes,” Amir added.

GKL will also select four recipes from the cookbook to be added to its own fine dining menu for its patients.

The hospital is also hoping to raise RM 100, 000 from the sale of these cookbooks which will be channelled to various cancer related organisations.
