MODU Debuts at The Exchange TRX, Introducing Malaysia’s First Premium Samgyetang Wellness Dining Experience

January 22, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

Kuala Lumpur’s culinary scene welcomes a striking new addition with the opening of MODU at The Exchange TRX, the city’s most anticipated luxury lifestyle destination. Spanning more than 3,000 square feet, the flagship restaurant introduces Malaysia to a groundbreaking interpretation of modern Korean wellness cuisine — one that blends tradition, refinement and contemporary sophistication with remarkable precision.

Designed with Hanok-inspired architecture, warm timber finishes and thoughtfully curated lighting, MODU presents an atmosphere that is both calming and luxurious. The restaurant features private VIP dining suites and embraces a no pork, no lard philosophy, offering an inclusive dining experience built on Halal-friendly ingredients without compromising authenticity.

A New Standard for Korean Wellness Gastronomy

At the heart of MODU lies its signature offering: six specialised renditions of Samgyetang, Korea’s revered ginseng chicken soup.

Each bowl undergoes a meticulous 12-hour slow-simmering process, extracting deep collagen richness and wellness benefits rooted in boyang-sik — the ancient Korean practice of nourishing the body through food. Far from a simple traditional dish, MODU elevates Samgyetang into a luxury culinary ritual, crafted with premium herbs, Halal-certified chicken and carefully balanced flavours.

This refined approach has already earned wide acclaim in Singapore, where MODU’s flagship at Mandarin Gallery has attracted strong media attention and long queues.  With its debut in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur diners can now experience this celebrated modern Korean wellness dining for themselves.

The Six Signature Samgyetang Creations

Each version is designed to offer a distinct wellness profile and flavour experience:

Hanbang Samgyetang — A classic interpretation simmered with Korean herbs, ginseng and jujube for deep nourishment.

Perilla Seed Samgyetang — A luxuriously creamy, nutty broth known for its benefits to joint and bone health.

Black Sesame Samgyetang — Aromatic and deeply flavourful, enhanced with roasted black sesame for complexity.

Black Chicken Samgyetang (Ogol-gye) — Prepared with premium black chicken prized for its nutritional density.

Beauty Collagen Samgyetang — Enriched with beauty-supporting herbs to promote vitality and skin radiance.

Spicy Hangover Samgyetang — A bold, invigorating version crafted to refresh and revive.

Beyond Samgyetang: A Contemporary Korean Wellness Menu

MODU complements its signatures with a curated selection of refined appetisers, including:

• Minari Watersnail Salad

• Fried Enoki

• Potato Pancake

• Minari Pancake

• Tofu Samhap

Desserts highlight the quiet elegance of Korean sweet traditions, such as Black Sesame Ice Cream and Dried Persimmon — completing the wellness journey with a balanced finish.

TOFU G: Malaysia’s First Tofu-Based Gelato Concept

Adjacent to MODU, TOFU G makes its Malaysian debut with the country’s first tofu gelato concept. Using the same Live Gelato Churning Machine that gained viral popularity in Singapore, each serving is churned fresh upon order, resulting in a velvety, lighter and naturally guilt-free dessert alternative.

With its luxurious interiors, Halal-friendly menu and commitment to wellness-driven gastronomy, MODU stands poised to become one of KL’s most influential new dining destinations. Its arrival at The Exchange TRX — the city’s newest hub for international retail, dining and lifestyle — marks a defining moment in Kuala Lumpur’s evolving culinary landscape.

MODU is more than a restaurant; it is a modern reimagining of Korean heritage designed for today’s discerning diners — elegant, restorative and unmistakably premium.
