Malaysia’s First Green Mall has rolled out a mall-wide Glass Recycling Campaign, further strengthening its commitment to sustainability and circularity.
As part of the newly expanded 1RECYCLING CENTRE (1RC), shoppers and tenants can now recycle glass bottles and jars alongside plastic, paper, fabric, and e-waste — making 1RC one of the most comprehensive recycling hubs in any Malaysian mall.

This initiative is powered by a strategic collaboration with:
🔹 Glass Loop – managing collection & full downstream recycling
🔹 EUROCHAM Malaysia – providing advocacy & industry alignment

📍 MOU signing took place on 26 November 2025, attended by 1 Utama, Glass Loop, EUROCHAM, and F&B tenants including ANTE, Wonjo Buanjib, and Since 1939 — all early adopters of responsible glass disposal.

💡 Why it matters:
Glass is 100% infinitely recyclable, but remains one of Malaysia’s most under-recycled materials. With this campaign, 1 Utama is paving the way for a truly circular mall ecosystem.
🟩 Glass Recycling Facilities:
• Public-use bins @ 1RECYCLING CENTRE (B2 Highstreet)
– Smart sensors for real-time monitoring
– Open daily 10am–10pm
• Tenant-use bins @ Refuse Chamber (GF Centre Court)
– Open 24 hours for operational waste
– Actively used by leading F&B tenants
Once collected, glass is transported to Shah Alam for sorting & cleaning, then to OI-BJC Glass Malaysia in Johor Bahru where it is remade into new bottles.
🌍 Impact so far:
Since the soft launch in October 2025, 1,509 kg of glass waste has already been diverted from landfills.
A greener future starts with simple habits — and 1 Utama is making it easier than ever. 💚
