Celebrate Malaysia’s Taste with Baskin-Robbins’ Exciting Makan BRsama Menus in collaboration with Grab Signatures Village Park Nasi Lemak Sambal

August 16, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

Get ready for an eventful National Day celebration this month! Baskin-Robbins Malaysia, the world’s largest chain of ice cream speciality shops, proudly introduced their latest innovative menu, Sambal Sundae and Lat-Tali-Tarts, a celebration of Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage.

Baskin-Robbins has been a beloved brand in Malaysia since 1988. With 153 stores nationwide, it has since become a cherished part of family memories and childhood experiences.

Drawing inspiration from flavors deeply rooted in Malaysian culture such as nasi lemak, kaya butter toast, kopi and durian, the new menu highlights the creative fusion of traditional Malaysian elements with our beloved ice cream, creating a joyful, shared culinary experience.

The star ingredient behind the Sambal Sundae—Grab Signature’s Village Park Nasi Lemak Sambal—adding an authentic Malaysian twist to this innovative dessert

With that, Baskin-Robbins has teamed up with Jaya Grocer to introduce exciting limited-time offerings. This collaboration features the beloved Grab Signatures Village Park Nasi Lemak Sambal, part of Jaya Grocer’s newly launched Private Labels. The spicy and sweet Sambal Sundae and the delicious Lat-Tali-Tart set promise to delight your taste buds with their unique twist.

The launch was held at the Baskin-Robbins’ Flavor Concept Store at The Exchange TRX, graced by distinguished guests, including Charmaine Cheah, CEO of Baskin-Robbins Malaysia; JM Cheah, Director of Baskin-Robbins Malaysia; Darren Kang, Chief Strategy Officer; Dato Seri Shamil, Founder of Village Park; and Sandy Low, Head of Private Label from Jaya Grocer. The flagship store stands as an innovation hub, taking ice cream connoisseurs on a flavor journey through the culinary landscape of dessert innovation.

Guests had the chance to try the Lat-Tali-Tarts and Sambal Sundae. They also explored over 50 different ice cream flavors to find their perfect pairing with sambal. Top flavors voted as the best pairing with sambal were Coconut, It Takes Two To Mango, Mango Sticky Rice and Citrus Twist Ice.

Makan BRSama with Baskin-Robbins’ limited-time Sambal Sundae and Tarts

Available from now until 30th September, the Sambal Sundae invites Malaysians to explore bold new flavor pairings, featuring a distinctive sambal topping and sambal-infused waffle cone. This adventurous treat combines the spicy kick of sambal from Grab Signatures Village Park Nasi Lemak Sambal with the sweet and creamy texture of ice cream. Recommended ice cream pairings with sambal include Coconut, Chocolate, It Takes Two to Mango, and Peanut Butter ‘N Chocolate, each complementing the sambal’s unique taste — but everyone is encouraged to discover their own favorite combinations.

Another star of the show for this innovative menu is the Lat-Tali-Tart set, featuring four unique tastes that highlight Malaysia’s culinary diversity. The Village Park Nasi Lemak tart presents a novel twist on a beloved dish, combining creamy coconut ice cream with spicy sambal and crispy fried anchovies in a buttery tart shell. The Kopi Dinosaur tart pairs rich Jamoca™ Almond Fudge ice cream with chocolate curls in a crispy tart shell, perfect for coffee and chocolate aficionados. The Pandan Kaya Butter Toast tart reinterprets the classic Malaysian breakfast, blending smooth vanilla ice cream with rich kaya spread, topped with a block of cold butter in a golden tart shell. Lastly, the Durian King tart is a daring dessert for true durian enthusiasts, featuring creamy vanilla ice cream paired with exotic durian puree and crunchy pistachio bits in a delicate tart shell.
