Hawayi @ Teluk Intan : 40 Years and counting !

December 30, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

Hawayi is a popular restaurant located in Teluk Intan, a town in Perak, Malaysia. The restaurant has a long history, starting in 1980 as a humble street-side vendor selling local dishes outside a cinema and bus station. Over time, the restaurant grew in popularity, and as local property developments displaced the original location, Hawayi moved to its present location near local schools, where it continues to be a local favorite.

Today, Hawayi is an icon in Teluk Intan and is renowned among both locals and tourists for its delicious local dishes and desserts. Its signature dishes include Laksa, Mee Rebus, Mee Kicap, and Rojak, all of which are must-try items on the menu.

Laksa

The Laksa is a spicy noodle soup that is generously topped with fish meat, onions, cucumbers, and more. The noodles are cooked to perfection and are slurpilicious, leaving a tangy and spicy taste in your mouth.

Curry Mee

The Curry Mee , on the other hand, is a thick and spicy curry gravy that lathers yellow noodles and bihun in it. It is a perfect dish for those who love a little spice in their meals.

Mee Kicap

The Mee Kicap is another favorite among Hawayi’s customers, especially kids. It is served with yellow noodles, soy sauce, and thick soy sauce, along with fu cuk and taugeh, making it a wholesome and nutritious meal. For those who love snacks, the Rojak is a must-try dish. It comes with generous servings of crackers on the side and is perfect for satisfying your cravings.

For dessert, Hawayi has a wide selection of delicious items on the menu.

Laici

The Laici is a popular choice, and it is served with cold shave ice and lime for a refreshing and zesty taste.

Air Mata Kuching

The Air Mata Kuching, a refreshing longan drink, has been a Hawayi specialty for 40 years, made fresh daily with the finest ingredients.

Chendol

Finally, the Chendol is a sweet treat that is perfect for those who love to indulge in something sweet. It is served with pulpy red beans and shaved ice, making it a perfect dessert to beat the heat.

In conclusion, Hawayi is a must-visit restaurant in Teluk Intan that offers an authentic taste of local Malaysian cuisine. Its long history, combined with its innovative approach and commitment to maintaining its traditional taste, has made it a favorite among locals and tourists alike. So, if you are planning to visit Teluk Intan, don’t miss out on the opportunity to visit Hawayi and enjoy its delicious dishes.
